'm talking about the future.
Do you remember when some of those Sci Fi programs originated they always had future dates like 1999 etc and we were already flying around in space ships and in touch with aliens etc.
What do you think that we can really expect to see in the next say 30 to 50 years.
At the rate things are going I don't think we will be flying around in spaceships or being able to replicate dinner.
What do you think we could really expect?

We are a type O, Civilization...
in 50 years i believe we will be type III
Type I:
A civilization capable of using all of the energy falling on its planet from its "sun" for interstellar communication. (For us this would be equal to 10,000 times the present total energy consumption by mankind for all purposes.) Hence, we are more like a "Type O" civilization.
Type II:
A civilization capable of using the total energy output of its "sun" for interstellar communication.
Type III:
A civilization capable of using the total energy output of our galaxy for interstellar communication.
What about the people who are around now? We are as you say type 0. Do we also evolve or do we just remain type 0 in a Type III society?

Now Now positive thinking please. We might develop some sort of anti-aging cure, you never know, plus I'm 34 so I have high hopes of reaching 84

Where do you get your information from? I'm not being sarcastic just wondering how you came up with these answers.

I think we are in a bottleneck period for the next few decades, we have serious environmental damage to deal with, and also the planet seems to be grumbling toward some kinda nuclear confrontation pretty soon. However, if we survive politics and the climate, then the next 100 year should see some amazing developments, certainly in pure science there are some serious things happening in cosmology, physics, and of course biology and genetics. Its all to play for, but its hard to tell because as "individuals" we are generally very clever, but as a "species" we are pretty stupid and we don't really make very wise decisions in large groups, so we might easily destroy ourselves if we are not careful.

When you consider the differences between the year 1900 and 2000, it's mind boggling.
