When you have a sick day from work - or two or a week, do you go back as soon as you feel better or give yourself another day / half day to make sure your up for it? Also do you feel guilty being off & if so why? - your ill.
Have you ever faked a sick day?

I always think its best not to take the mick, there's bound to be a day when you really need to take a genuine sick day, nobody's going to believe you if you have a rep for being on the sick 24/7

I never use a sick day for myself, only if my husband is ill or has to see the doctor that day.
Took one class off to fix my braces when a wire opped out-gosh, they keep popping out lately. I usually go on my holidays. I see her Monday.

Speaking as a person who hardly ever gets sick. I find that if I want a day or two off. Then I just phone in and say I have had a case of the "turkey trots." I can get a couple of days off with no problem. It annoys me when you see people having time off because they have got a snuffle or a bad cough... They milk the system as much as they can. Knowing full well that the others will "carry the can" for 'em... Well sod 'em. If they are so unwell/unfit. Then maybe they need to seriously think about if they actually want a job. There are a lot of people out there that do....

Iusually do not take more than a full day..more often just a half day. But I think it depends on circumstances.
A few years back I had to have some "girly" surgery, on an out patient hospital visit. My GYN told me that he normally just asks patients to take 3 days off, but as my job at the time required me to be rather active, on my feet, and doing some lifting, he had me take 5 days off.
I think with the job I have now, I may want to stay home till I am sure I was not contageous...as some of the people in the office are medically vulnerable..catch things easier, and I would not want to pass anything on to them.
