I was wondering what vitamins anyone would recommend. I bought Geritol tonight (no laffing) in the hopes of gaining some energy. I'm not sure it's the best I could have bought. I eat decently but I am a firm believer in vitamins. So what kind do you prefer?

I have a friend who is in to GNC. Depending on your age, he said Women's Bone Density is excellent. It adds the calcium we need. Once we hit a certain age our bones start to lose something-or-other and this is excellent for us. If you don't have a GNC store near you, Rite-Aid carries that name. But you can go into any GNC store and the clerks are suppose to be very knowledgeable.
I've also heard that prenatal vitamins are Very good! Nope, you don't have to be pg :p

There's low-dose multivitamins that keep a baseline level for several key ones which a body might run short of because one might not figure in food intake for a while, that seems a reasonable tablet to stick with indefinitely as a just-in-case.
If I decide my nose is tingling with that "I might have a runny nose tomorrow" feeling I've tried Linus Pauling's idea of flooding my system with Vitamin C. Maybe I've headed off a cold or two that way, who can tell? That consists of taking several 1000mg tablets over the course of a day and tailing the dose down to one tablet over the course of the next week.
If I'm stuck indoors over winter with little exposure to sunlight I'm prepared to take a Vitamin D supplement but I've never really felt the need, that's just to fend off relatives who say I'm SAD. Me, I think they're unlikely to be right but it's all subjective.

Ordinary multivitamins, possibly multivitamins and minerals, *not* "high strength",
combined with a reasonably varied diet high in vegetable matter (including fruit),
lower in salt, fat, and meat.

Yes, that's true. It's mostly sugar, with some water, and a few minor contaminants
such as pollen and wax.

Where ever did you find Geritol? A few months back, I looked for it everywhere.

I usually take a women's formula made for women over 50. It includes iron. I also take a magnesium/calcium supplement as well as glucosimine plus condroiton.

Twenty years ago, I was in a job that was giving me grief, so I started using "StressTabs" (B Complex + zinc). Seemed to work well, and there's always the side benefit of the electric neon yellow urine . Never ceased to amaze me !
Nowadays, I'm much older, a teensy bit wiser, and I don't sweat the small stuff.
Speaking of micturation, some will tell you that all you are doing by consuming vitamins is flushing your money down the toilet. I think you do benefit from taking them.
EDIT >>> Ginseng is excellent for energy and mood enhancement. Not a vitamin, but a fine supplement. I like the little glass vials from China, "Renshenfengwangiang" (That's what it's called...no lie) : ginseng + royal jelly.

Once upon a time, I fed a quite large amount of fresh Royal Jelly to a pet dog,
over a period of time. The dog didn't object at all. Neither did it appear to do
much to it that was noticeable. It didn't seem to do anything at all for me, when
I tried it, either. I concluded that eating Royal Jelly is a waste of time.... selling
the stuff, however...

Well, it turned my beagle into a beegle...
Actually, I take it for the ginseng. Pour the contents of the vial into tea.
Once, I made the mistake of drinking one about an hour before bedtime. Completely eliminated any desire for sleep, yet it wasn't a "wound up" feeling like you get from caffeine.
Can't make any testimonials for the royal jelly. The Chinglish instructions noted the longevity of the queen bee, which is fed an exclusive diet of the stuff. Hypothetical for dogs and humans, I guess...
I ain't dead yet. Something must be keeping me alive. Who knows ??
(OK, now I'm just droning on. Time to stop.)

I've taken Vitamins for over 10 years now, taken GNC, Melalucca, Shaklee, etc.
Have been told that store brands aren't best for you because they are made with fillers and don't disolve, not giving you the nutrients that you think you are getting.
The best way to get the nutrients is liquid form, or of course from the food sources that they come from to begin with. Of course we can't get all the nutrients from the foods we eat nowadays due to re-cultivating the land....I have a juicer and need to drink veggies or fruits more, but don't do it.
Just sayin'....

Not knocking your "droning on".... queen bees do live a long time, sure, but they
only fly once or twice in their lives, otherwise being merely egg-laying machines,
looked after and fussed over by young workers (females) for their whole lives.
They can live for fsix years in very exceptional circumstances, but don't normally
get that far, for various reasons. A worker bee lives for only about 6 weeks at
the height of the season, maybe for 6 months in winter. During the season, they
flog their guts out working, you see, and die of it; in winter, they don't do so
much work, so live longer. I would not say that royal jelly prolongs the queen's
life - she just doesn't do the same work! There's a lesson there somewhere...

I add sunflower seeds to my breakfast and yoghurts. In addition to linoleic acid (an essential fatty acid), sunflower seeds are also an excellent source of dietary fibre, protein, Vitamin E, and minerals such as magnesium and selenium [6]. Additionally, they are high in cholesterol-lowering phytosterols.
If stressed I take St Johns Wort as its fantastic for takng the edge off ones temper and I need it with some of the tossers I have to work with in my office! believe me!!

I just wondered why the excess sugar, if your body isn't regulating it... Me? I've just had some 2004 chocolate, I suppose it'll be turned into (more) fat....
