More than once lately two people that i am friends with on fg have had little tiffs ,difference of opinion ,me being the most non confrontational person in the world ,just quickly got the hell outa the thread never to return again, but its wrong of me really ,what is the done thing ??? what do you guys do?? private message saying look i think your wrong , just jump in and take the side you think is right ,what have you done that works or have you lost friends trying to calm it down , or even worse does that good friend now not like you ,every time i step off the joke threads its ended in disaster but ...... you never know unless you try ....:-6 :-6

If you're friends with them both, I would say letting them handle it themselves is probably the best in most cases. :)

Taking sides is unproductive. Wont get ya anywhere but in trouble. Unless you have strong feelings on the matter butt out.

The Bible talks about iron sharpening iron. Without some friction we get dull. On the other hand humor is important for our well being too. I personally have trouble finding the right balance.

What I have found to work, IF you all use MSN is to have a three way conversation and be sorta the (forgotten the word, argh), when you are just there to support them both and give advice to what they say.

I will always tell my friends from the start that I don't do arguments and if they try to start one " I'm off out the door "

You can try to defuse a situation but it depends if the other person is ready to comply , some people just start one just for the sake of it , If you cant talk about it together there's just no point .

That's what I think :D

I tried to referee a bad fight once here through PMs. Damn near broke the hand I was holding the olive branch in.

If a friend rejects your friendship because you don't take sides, how good was the friendship really? Of course, that doesn't make it hurt less. :(

This will probably make no since at all, but I will try, When two friends argue, there friendship usually grows stronger. If someone picks on you, it's because they like you as a friend. When me and my friends argue, we usually become closer that before. Does that make since?

Suzy beat me to the joke. :D

The problem isn't two friends arguing; it's when two of your friends, who aren't friends with each other, start fighting. That's the one that can be tough, depending on how serious the fight.
