Oh yes another road pricing device!
The main use of this device It seems will be to charge people for travelling on congested roads....... as well as to fine you for travelling over the speed limit!

Soberano;563446 wrote: Motoring groups have expressed concern about a possible government plan to install satellite tracking systems in cars to curb speeding drivers.
Trials of a scheme are taking place at Leeds University and involve black-box transmitters in cars to monitor driving and record any breach of the speed limit.
Using a national database, the speed limit for any road would be automatically communicated to the black box.
The plan has been attacked by the Conservatives as well as the Association of British Drivers, which has led the opposition to speed cameras and road pricing.
The RAC Foundation also spoke of its fears for the scheme, which is known as Intelligent Speed Adaptation.
Its executive director Edmund King said: "In the trial, a small fleet of family cars has been fitted with devices that slow the car down when the speed limit is reached.
"The potential problem is that if the driver gives up too much of his control and concentration to a black box, then he could just mentally switch off and could get into an accident.
"We do have fears about this kind of technology and would be worried if it was made compulsory.''
There will be no room for the engine if they keep adding their bloody boxes.
They were fairly well along with testing this two years ago - as soon as you cross into a lower speed limit it cuts your engine until your speed is down to the new limit.
They were also proposing to fit it to all motorcycles until it was proven to them that, cutting the engine on a bike mid corner could easily be fatal.

I don't think I like this idea because of the Big Brother aspect BUT...flip it around a little and make a black box to monitor drunk drivers and I'd stamp my seal on it in a heartbeat. Er...if I had a seal.

They already exist - you have to blow before you can start the engine

Those aren't always foolproof I've seen and reported people that have another person blow for them.

True - always the problem with these imposed "solutions" that haven't been thought through.
