Do you like living in cities or prefer the country?

I like quick access to a main city but can't stand living right in them. Too many people, too much noise, to much pollution, not enough space.

I also think that when that many people get together there's always trouble. Nasty creatures, humans are.

I'm a mix of both...

I love the bright lights of the city, the theatres, clubs, restaurants, hustle and bustle, but I also love the country.

I have a cottage in Wales (about 45 min inland from Aberystwyth), and this is one of the views nearby. It's lovely and peaceful!

I'm not very good at stocking up on supplies so I like being able to get what I need as I need it. But I'd learn to stock up to live in a place like that.

I live in the Irish countryside, but in a market town, and not in as nice her house as pinky there or elvira! WOW! But its still nice, I have lived in Birmingham, (big city) Dublin (big city), London, (even bigger city), Munich (bout the same as Dublin), Prague (very very nice, but a bit dodgy), and I have lived in the countryside as well, and there is no comparison, the city is good for food, shops, the museums, restaurants all that urban stuff, but in general the countryside is a thousand times nicer, as long as its your thing, see I am from the countryside really (even though I was born in Brum and proud of it) so I am biased, though really life in the countryside is just better, it just is, many reasons but mostly because life is nicer there. The one thing about cities that you can't beat though is jobs and opportunities, so sometimes its worth your while to be in one, and I don't mind them, I do like city life as well.

If I could, I'd live in the country and travel by horse.

Statistically, there are more murders, per capita in Montana than NYC. Also, people in remote areas die younger, and have a higher rate of alcoholism. They, literally, get bored to death.

I grew up in a small town and now live a small one too. I'm just outside of town and have the best of both worlds. I'm out in the country enough to see squirrels, deer, etc. but close enough to town to walk any where I need to go.

I can't stand living in London, although I am just outside of the City, I still don't like it.

I prefer the country, to be by the ocean. But like you said, not too far from a city. It's handy to live not too far, from a city.

I prefer the quiet life and there's nothing quiet like the ocean air.

I can easily adapt to either one, I was born and raised in a large city but every house hubby and I have owned has been in the country. I prefer country living. :-6

I wouldn't like to live in a city, have always lived in fairly rural areas. Have spent enough time in cities to know it would not suit me.



I currently live in a fairly small town, by the coast with the moors just a short drive away. It's one of the nicest places I've lived!!

Pinky and Elvira... your homes are right out of my dreams. I lived most of my life in New York City. Moved 12 years ago to live in a little cabin on 112 acres in the woods. Couldnt take the feeling that I was cut off from the world after 3 years. I moved into the closest town 12 miles. It is a very small country town. Im really not thrilled here either. Its beautiful, but there is really nothng going on. The poster who mentioned alcohol and drugs was absolutely correct. Young people are so bored here that there is a larger drug problem than we had in New York. For me, in order to see people, I have to go into town to have a drink and/or eat something to socialize a bit.

My ex wanted to live right downtown Vancouver. That was one of our core differences.

New York has lots of noise for you.

They've had movements started to reduce noise pollution.

One thing I noticed on a visit is that the noises echo off the buildings all night. Dumpsters being emptied etc.

I like quiet.

Seriously though, they are OK for visiting, but I couldn't live in one. I was brought up on the outskirts (outskirt?) of a small highland village, and I now live on the edge of larger village - on the edge of a largerconnurbation - thankfully none of these could, in any way, be called a city.

I can step outside my door and in less than 100 yards, I am in the middle of the countryside. Magic.

City gal here and always have been, but then again am a wee bit spoilt... the country (mountains) are a mere 60 min drive away...

Country. I like to walk out on my deck and take a pee without worrying if I am peeing on a homeless person or get arrested.
