I'm fairly anti-noise. I hate doorbells.

I've only once had a doorbell that played a song of some sort. It was kind of tolerable in a funny way. I prefer people to knock. I think I confuse people when I knock instead of ringing their doorbell.

How do you feel about it? Love 'em? Hate 'em? Couldn't be arsed to care?

I prefer the 'ding dong' type that I have. Can't stand the ones with tunes, they go on for too long or the ones where you can press and hold for one long ring like my neighbour has. Lived somewhere with no doorbell, that was a pain in the ass as I couldn't hear anyone knocking and hate it when they do anyway.

What about people that knock by going "RAP rap rap rap Rap... rap RAP" ?

I thought about installing a crossbow that fires after four knocks in a row.

We have a front buzzer that doesn't work too.

We can hear it but we can't buzz anyone in.

I wonder why anyone wants to call on me anyway.

I wouldn't trust anyone that rings my doorbell in the first place.

I dont mind them, but when the children that live in my complex stand an ring it 400 times before you can get to it, that can build on your last nerve, especially if it's 7:30 in the morning.:-6

I grew up in a house without a doorbell so when I finally got an apartment with one, I thought I was "all that".

Not so much now. For one, I don't like unannounced company. I don't have a peephole and I have to run down the hall to look out a bedroom window and hope to recognize the vehicle.

On top of that, my dog freaks out and saying "who's there" makes him freak out even more so you can't hear what the person on the other side of the door says.

A lot of times, I won't even answer the door either. If you call and let me know your coming, I'll meet you in the driveway. :o

I forgot my other pet peeve about doorbells now that I think about it.

I HATE going to someones house and their doorbell does not work. I'll stand there for 5 minutes continuing to ring a doorbell that doesn't work and feeling like an idiot only to be told later by phone "oh I was home...bell doesn't work....should have knocked". GRRRRRR

Better yet, when someone door chime box is so far back in the house that you can't hear it ring so you 'ding' it a couple of more times before resorting to knocking because you've been burned before by broken doorbells. Only to be met with a PO'd buddy questioning why your raping his doorbell.

It's official, I hate em.

Its terrible. They come in and want to actually talk with you. For like a half hr. They smile all the while sizing you and your choice of furniture up. They drink your coffee and want to know what you like to do. Its on my top 10 of worst lifetime experiences.

Freaks !

YAY! I thought we were the only ones! :wah: At our old house we had a doorbell with no batteries. It was great fun watching people ringing away and getting annoyed! :wah:

We don't answer the door either. 99% of our callers seem to be selling something and 9 times out of 10 they get annoyed if you refuse. They either get threatening or start asking WHY you don't want their product! I even had a guy show me a photo of his 'wife and kids' (he didn't look old enuff to be a dad!) and told me some sob story about them starving if I didn't buy what he was selling! Good grief! :yh_loser

I also don't like unannounced visitors! We now have a webcam trained on our front door so we can see who's knocking and we can laugh at them as they get annoyed when no one answers. :wah:
