Sometimes I have patients with such bad breath that it literally makes me almost gag. I think to myself "Lord dont let me gad now"!

I never say anything, would you and would you want to know if you had butt breath?

Of course I'd want to know. I'd die of embarrassment but I would still want to know.

Pass 'em a mint. Hopefully they will have enough sense to see the hint.

I always hope I am never offensive although after onions or garlic I know I will be so I avoid people when I eat them. But I guess sometimes you just don't know. Maybe saying "You need a mint" instead of "would you like a mint" would be helpful.

I sympathize with you. Being assaulted by nasty breath is awful. :-5

What kind of work are you in that you have patients?

Yeah I would definitely want to know. Pass them some mouthwash as a hint and ask them the last time they went to the dentist. It could be a problem maybe.

Why not carry some breath mints and as you hand one to them say, "would you care for one of my mints"? Be sure and take one yourself at the same time.

Lon's right. Defintely have one yourself so they don't feel insulted or embarrassed. But what do you do when they say "Oh no thanks?" If someone offers me a mint or lifesaver or some+-thing I always take it because you never know...but some people aren't like that.

You could always start singing that old song from Mary Poppins but change the words a little...

Supercalifragilistic you've got halitosis

No-one likes to tell you that it's really quite atrocious

If we stand too close to you we'll get cyanosis
