I made burritos today, and my computer is covered in chilies, beans, guacamole, and tortilla, they are lovely, however, my wrapping skills are only of the most basic kind, can anyone provide clear, written instructions on how to wrap the perfect burrito???

Now look, I didn't want this to turn into some kind of Spanish inquisition, I just wanted good Burrito advice, but thank you all. I think the initial suggestion of getting the bottom flap folded first makes sense to me, thats what I usually do, but then it pops out sometimes doesn't it????
So I like sunny's suggestion about doing the kinda double fold-over thing, like a card board box, that seems like a good idea to me, so I will give it a go. I have tried the not bothering thing, and just letting the food fall onto me lap, but its not a long-term solution is it??? I also can't hire a Mexican here, because there are only a couple of hundred of them in Ireland and they all have much better jobs to do here than folding bits of dough, they are like Ambassadors or Papal Nuncios or Playwrights or that over here, though perhaps Migel Ximenez Sanchez from down the road might show me some tricks if I buy him a couple of bottles of Corona.

Hmmmnn?

AHEM...
Sunny has the right method, this California Girl would only add...
don't put too much filling in. And sometimes a little moisture
helps the flaps stick together.
Too much and then your flap flies out. At least, that's been my
experience.
Make TWO burritos with the filling for ONE!!

Women Are Smarter Lyrics
Artist(Band):Grateful Dead
Let us put men and women together
See which one is smarter
Some say men, but I say no
Women run the men like a puppet show
It ain't me
It's the people that say
Men are leading the women astray
But I say, it's the women today
Smarter than the man in every way
Chorus:
That's right
The women are smarter
That's right
The women are smarter
That's right
The women are smarter
The women are smarter
That's right
Little boy sit on the corner and cry
Big man come and he asked him why
He said, "I can't do what the big boys do"
The man sat down and he cried too
It ain't me
It's the people that say
Men are leading the women astray
But I say, it's the women today
Smarter than the man in every way
Chorus:
That's right
The women are smarter
That's right
The women are smarter
That's right
The women are smarter
The women are smarter
That's right, that's right
Ever since the world began
Women been banned from the ways of man
Listen boy cuz I've got a plan
Give it up, don't try and understand
It ain't me
It's the people that say
Men are leading the women astray
But I say, it's the women today
Smarter than the man in every way
Chorus:
That's right

Yes quite, when it comes to making burritos, you win every time, you gals, or at least we let you think that anyway.
I tend to think that the old James Brown song, "This is a man's world, but he wouldn't be nothing, without a woman or a girl" is probably a good summation of the situation. :-6

ok, wait, I'm pretty good at the burrito thing.
First you be careful not to over fill it.
Then you fold it in half and gently pull the top towards you until it is snug around the filling. Then you fold up the bottom to close it off and then roll it away from you.

Good suggestions, but what stops the bottom flap from coming undone, Sunny 104 suggests that you fold one side, then the bottom, then the other side, like a cardboard box to secure the little bugger???

Oh yes, I can see that this would work, very good, I shall try both methods and compare their utility in creating the worlds greatest taco ever made by an Irishman who isn't from Mexico or even been there, but like some of their nice food catagory. :wah:

But think of the social faux pas if the Mexican Ambassador ever comes to my house in Ireland for tea, and I can't make proper burritos only tacos, and anyway don't you have to fry the taco things as well?, thats getting complicated now, jaysus.
I would need to get the deep fat fryer out, and the Ambassador would be waiting in the hall in his sash getting annoyed, and sure I couldn't let him in the kitchen when the fryer was going cause of the greasiness, and he would have to wait out in the hall, because the Front Room is not hoovered and, then maybe the fryer wouldn't even do the taco shell properly (because I don't know how to do that either), and sure there would be all sorts of commotions and ructions, and the pope might get involved because we are all Catholics you know, and we have to do what he says (even if he is German), so thats very tricky, so I would just like to stick to burritos for this week. Thanks for the input in this highly charged and emotional FG debate though me dears.
