My father had Dementia and died last year at 76? It is a condition that affects the memory in the brain? What else do know about Dementia & do you have it? How do you know?

I have been implicated as having Dementia from here? Should i be reconciling checking accounts in the excess of the thousands? Is it possible to have this at my age? The Bank doesn't know, should i tell them? you have to admit, this is friggin hilarious.hahahahah

stop, i type as i talk i can't help it. see now if there was testing only people with Dementia would be responding, giving information about our condition? i am having my yearly physicals for the groin and the entire being i will ask if i need to be checked for Dementia, the forum could be bringing it on? oh my god! i thought tongue piercing controlled eating? it was a joke to ask are you Demented--it isn't anymore. a very simple and not definitive test , but one used by LE in an emergency situation/whether to baker-act someone, includes determining whether a person is in the here and now, and knows what year it is, who is president, etc. it is rudimentary and elementary, but can reveal a potential problem. only a physician can Dx dementia. forgetting things and other brain glitches are normal for everyone. in fact after my heart attack i felt like my mind was a sieve for a little while... intellect intact, but forgot stupid mundane everyday stuff. it came back. i think. :-2

As a Florida Cop my fathers license was revoked because of his condition. I had not seen him for a year and he then passed on. Are there records to find out if he had any violations with an accident or a fall in a parking lot, i wonder, can you respond? thanks.

Paula..call sheriff dept. in county in which your father resided. if there were violations they would be public record. as to whether he had a fall, do you know his physician of that time? also, dept. of motor vehicles in that county can provide answers, but you may well need power of attorney or be executrix of his estate. sorry for your loss ...will it help you to know these things?

you're welcome, and thank you as well. i hope you find something that will ease your mind or give you peace. my Dad was an internationally-known scientist and a genius. a professor at MIT among many other distinguished credentials...in his last year he was not in his right mind and it was the single most painful thing i ever dealt with in my life. it still brings me to my knees to think of it. it was crushing. this was a man whose intelligence defined him. dementia robs us of our loved ones.

people my age don't get it? 48 isn't that a bit early? You may be a cop but you are sharp in the medical field. are you okay yourself? i had to rid the cigs, going for tests here myself, stress doesn't help. Now that i have my mind, i think i'll get some rest.

If you need any questions asked, let me know I work at the San Diego Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. Started as a Volunteer in 1990, became a fulltime employee in 2000. I have been around the dementia for a long time. Hope this helps..

In my humble opinion Paula.. I am afraid you may be suffering from the early stages of dementia... some days.. But then so am I . And guess what? I wouldnt have it any other way!!!!!! God bless you... Life is tough . Isnt it? But what a wonderful thing it is to be alive!!! With Love... Weeder

You are 53, chances are you would get it before me? Yes Paula, sometimes I definately do have it. I just roll with it. I figure Ive paid my dues..... Im entitled to it.. Take it,or leave it Its who I am. I still think it doesnt hurt anybody. But then Ill have a hell of a time finding any male who will put up with it. So there is a price to pay for everything.

P S...... Im moved.... You remembered!! Ill be 53 January 26th.

You only need a man once in awhile; someone to pick on, to get a sliver out of your foot, empty the garbage & wash the car, hurry up i have someplace to go! i have a good husband, he is getting too tender as he ages, i am getting tougher, i always tell him --you made a hell of a man out of me!
