My next thought was an elimination game like "House"
Get six members in the thread and each week someone is voted out.

The only people who can vote on the poll each week are the people still in the house.
If there is a tie then the poll opens up to the audience.

The votes would be at set time periods and it doesn't mean you're unpopular if you go. It's a strategy game. You could try to boot off your biggest competitor.
I haven't watched Big Brother or House so I've only got Survivor in mind.

Oh, I don't know about voting off kind of shows. I never watch those anyway......
