do you like white noise when you sleep or complete silence?

someone yesterday mentioned that they always sleep with the bathroom fan on, I kinda thought I was probably the only person that did that! :o

I have put my stereo tunning "off" station to fall asleep to the static at times, as well I used to sleep with a small water fountain in my room. But lately I haven't needed any aid.

How interesting...I just fell asleep at my office on the couch with Heavy Equipment making all kinds of noises outside the window...so yeah I can fall asleep with White noise, yellow noise, black noise....

At home I have to have my Ceiling fan on at night or I can't sleep...My kids tease me cause at times it's below zero temp. in there, but I love it. And the darker room the better, and if not, I'll improvise....like throwing a coat over my head....(like I did about a half hour ago).

I prefer totally dark and totally silent, but like wonderwendy, I can easily fall asleep to the rumble of consturction machienery - I remember when I was younger and they would be all a round us at 6am till dark- favorite noise!-and Nascar always puts me to sleep, but I love it!

I can fall asleep in 10 minutes watching the weather channel.

But normally I just have to have complete darkness and a box fan blowing directly on my feet for me to fall asleep. :D

My brother still likes to relax and sleep by listening to a tape recording of my Mom vacuuming when we were teenagers. He's 44 this year but I guess he still likes the feeling of being comfortably tucked up with no worries and the drone of the old Hoover puts him right back there.

I'm known for being able to sleep anytime and anywhere, so noise or quiet don't affect me. The only difference is that the slightest sound wakes me if is comes during silence, where noise hides it. I once woke one morning to find a car outside my house on it's roof. It had lost control and slid down the road. Every person in the road heard it in the middle of the night and went to investigate except me as I heard nothing. The neighbours figured I was either dead or , ahem...otherwise engaged.

I like the tv on. If I turn it off I wake right up. But inevitably if I leave it on the noise wakes me up after Im asleep. Its a slippery slope.
