Yeah....there's a certain someone on here I tend to do that with. He reads a certain way and there were times I wasn't sure how to take him but since being able to talk with him, I can "hear" his voice in his posts and pretty much know how the nuance goes so it's helped a lot in that aspect.

I now read all of guppy's posts with a really twangy southern accent in my head. I always thought of Pinky having a high voice, but she surprised me by having a deep sultry voice. And well Wendy hehee I read her posts with lots of giggling mixed in. :wah:

No. You have gone completely off your rocker. Time for a good swig of something, and if that doesn't help - another!

Actually you don't even have to hear them a first time to "read" in their accent. You pick up a book by a good author, and if it's set in Scotland you will, if he has described the characters in sufficient detail, read the novel in a Scottish dialect. If the book is well written, you should "know" what everyone looks like and even how they think. The other amazing thing is the fact that no two authors are the same. Their style is as characteristic as a thumb print, and is impossible to change. Although I make jokes over the web, to many who read beyond the jokes, I'm a pretty sober person, especially when it comes to theology.

The dialect in question normally being one which never existed outwith a Star Trek episode.
Besides that, you have not differentiated between a dialect and an accent.
