A passing oil tanker yesterday rescued two people adrift at sea for four days, clinging to a small capsized boat and eating seaweed to survive as sharks circled nearby.

Juliet Savage (27) and Tim Attard (30) were to spend Saturday sailing Attard's 16-foot catamaran around the island of St Martin, where he works as a charter boat engineer.

About half a mile out to sea, one of the boat's pontoons filled with water and the vessel capsized.

The pair clung to the boat's side for four days with only two bottles of water, and two chocolate bars. On the third day they resorted to eating seaweed and drinking rain water collected on the catamaran's trampoline.

Juliet Savage, a British citizen, and Attard from Malta, were eventually spotted by the crew of a Liberian oil tanker.

Well.. I guess this is an adventure.. I survived.... Abouy 6 years ago... I was horseback riding with a friend. We were approaching a bridge.. Dirt country road.

T he horses didnt want to go over the bridge. My horse took a few steps backwards......... He and I went off the bridge, fell 40 feet into a river. I landed on a rock on the right side of my head. When I opened my eyes, half of my face was in water. My left eye saw the horses ass above my head. He was struggling on wet rock to climb the wall to get out of the river. For a second I though."This is it

hes going to slip, and crush my skull.. This is true.... my boys flashed in front of my mind. I started to crawl through the river to put distance between me and the horse. There were water moccasins in the river. I was frantically trying to climb through tall wet grass to find a way to get back up to the road(I know now I was in shock) I was afraid to put my hand up to my head because It felt like there was a huge hole in it ,and I could see blood coming down my shoulder. Discovered that there was a cement wall behind the grass. SO.. I used the steel

gerters? (screws) In the cement to climb back up to the road. Stood up on the road in the middle of nowhere cold, wet and crying. Then like the movie The Blues Brothers... A big old dirty car came down the road .. a trail of dust behind it. Two men got out. They looked like escapees from a mental ward. They were actually residents at a nearby state facility.. that retrains people with head injurys. I was a little scared of them.. but in too much pain to care. They took me to the hospital.

My right ear was 99% severed. (My ear saved my life.. when I landed on the rock)

Huge Hematoma grew on the left lower back.(size of a football) I think the horse must have kicked me. I was x rayed from head to toe.. Lucky girl.. They said I was OK. Plastic surgeon repaired my ear.. I eventually developed such bad pain in my lower back and legs.. I had to give up my Landscaping career. I wrote a letter to the rehab facility, thanking the two men for SAVING me. The facility had an awards dinner. Invited me to speak to the disabled about the qualities pocessed by good citizens. The men received an award. They became friends.

That incident is one of a few close calls Ive had in my life and survived. I figure God must want me here for something.
