I discovered how fun ebay is today. I used to collect Breyer horse statues when I was a kid. So I went on ebay and found some that were really low priced. And I made bids on about 9. But I am losing on 2. This is fun, but a think could be addicting. We will see if I win those other bids.

Wow, thanks. Well, whoever tried that was stupid. I wonder what was the reasoning behind that kind of thing?

I always buy and sell through paypal, never had a problem.

Ah! Was this in any particular area? and when?

I don't buy or sell anything on e-Bay. Never have, and never will, on principle. Everything from the Crown Jewels to a box of chocolates tends to go via e-Bay, and that is my main contention. Why should one company hold a monopoly? It is nothing short of a cartel. If you type in the word sale, or auction and then press the search engine, guess what will come up? It's exactly the same as when one goes to a boot sale - supposedly for the benefit of those trying to make a bit of money from items they no longer require. What to you see? Semi-commercial ventures with thirty or forty stalls set out, fruit and veg merchants screaming out "Come on ladies, paand a paand." I ostracize all of them. I would rather pay $10.00 for a garden spade off a genuine boot seller than $4.00 from somebody running a commercial venture.

In a word, let's have some competition, rather than turning it into a one horse race.

Ebay gets me in trouble :(

I go on thinking I'll get something for cheap, and I end up spending a lot on the item.

I love the thrill of winning so I just keep bidding and bidding :lips:

Something very similar happened to my flatmate about a week ago!! There seems to be someone hacking into loads of peoples accounts at the moment.

Just be careful:-4

I won on almost all of my bids. And now they want me to pay!

So I printed all of the emails and will send them money orders when I get paid. IT only came to about $100, including all of the items. So not bad. Now I just need to go get the money!

I don't go to eBay anymore. I was hooked on auctions like some people have gambling problems...for some years. I'd get such a rush out of it. Every part of it- the thrill of the hunt, the competitive bidding, sniping, winning and then *eep* buying. I got a lot of good stuff on there, a lot of good vntage jewelry I got for a steal but my house started filling up with so much other stuff I had to quit. I have a serious eBay problem. I haven't been there in about six months so far.

i have just started on ebay, and i have always paid through pay pal,but everything you can never be to careful.Only last year my friend at work had a phone call from the bank saying that in the last 2 days nearly £4000 went out on her debit card!

The last time she use it was when she went for a meal and the her card was copied. The bank repaid her money .

My mechanic was telling me the same thing. He spends all his money on ebay he says. And that he buys a bunch of junk. He says for me to not do what he does. And so far I have controlled my spending. But I have to say that I have gotten some beautiful jewelry.

A woman at my job says that she and her husband spend all the weekend selling on ebay and buying at estate sales. She says her husband does the "sniping" really well and that ebay offered him a job.

E-bay is indeed fun. It's like going to a flea market at home. But you do have to read the sellers feedback, the items description, and watch those shipping charges.

I go to eBay mainly to indulge in nostalgia. I've searched for stuff I had growing up, and I've found it all. It's amazing.

Well I've been having a lot of fun on ebay. Sometimes the sellers send me extra items. I've bidded on and won quite a lot of ladybug jewelry, little petshop animals, stuffed plush toys and horse statues. I've started to look for little Pot Belly figurines. I think I've only spent like $150 at the most. And a lot of the items a won at 99 cents!Well gotta get back to my bidding. :-6 :-4

When I need something for the bike I always check eBay first. I'd love to support the locals and buy from a bike shop every time, but there's times when mark-up makes a purchase more expensive than I'm willing to afford.

Sounds like fun stuff.

I got all four of my "fauxPods" off eBay. Including one that is the same size and shape as a pool chalk. The prices were good and since I don't care about brand names, I got perfectly good and brand new mp3 players for a steal, compared to what one iPod would have run me. :)
