I hate taking the kids food shopping, we end up with a trolley full of food that they don't eat, but have freebies attached to them :-5

I find that I am far quicker and spend around £85 a week on my own, with Jim or kids there it normally bumps it up to about £115, and about 30 mins on top. :-5

I find food shopping a real chore but find that having to put the bits away even worse

I spend way too much when I'm hungry, even more when I'm hungry and have the boys with me!! I watch what I spend when the b/f is with me, because I don't like him to feel like he has to help me with paying for it, even though if I asked him to he would...

Great thread, since after work tonight I have to go shopping, been gone for 4 days and didn't stock up before I left ...ooops!!:p

Food shopping isn't a problem as I always get my meat & Veg from the local farm shops which the kids find really boring, but as soon as I walk into a supermarket its ''I want this ''I want that and I do myself get carried away with all the useless stuff they have on sale which I really cant afford.

Thank you Suzy for answering the Bat's question...and so true...Even now, I always organize my items on the counter...cold together, cans, boxes, bottles, anything fragile like bread and eggs always at the end, then I am busy trying to help bag, because 9 times out of 10 the bagger doesn't care about my food and is slamming it in the bag...I had to fuss at a kid not to long ago for the way he was handling my food...made me mad...

Thankfully nowadays we can use the credit card swipey thingy and use my atm card instead of a check....so that if there is a Bat-Man in line behind me I wouldn't hold him up!!:D

I was amazed when I went to the States as they automatically pack your bags for you, but over here, although it's getting better with them offering, it is still pretty unusual for the cashier to be packing for you.

Must admit I find your bags pretty strange, they have no handles, just like big brown paper bags

A lot of places have plastic bags and the paper...I like the plastic because you can put them in a small waste-basket and re-use them and tie them together at the handles...pretty nifty.

At our Grocery store they have separate bag boys/girls and cashiers....if the bag person isn't around then the cashier will do it...I step in and do it, if no one is doing it. I don't have all day...geesh!!

I try not to shop.

When I do, I go through the store with a cart then, when I'm done, put half the stuff back or more. I've even been known to just leave the cart because I decided not to buy anything.

Food is different. I got sick of throwing stuff out so I shop more often for fewer things. When I lived across from the food store I usually just bought what I wanted to eat for that day and the next morning.

I try not to shop with other people because I dislike shopping so much I can't imagine they'll enjoy shopping with me.

I have the same habits all year round so I probably spend more in winter just because winter clothes are heavier and fruit prices go up.

oh, yeah.

I dislike holidays because people buy me stuff. And I have to buy them stuff. And we really don't need more stuff.

I spend more when I'm with my fiance 'cause we go through the store saying "ooh, let's get this so we can make that, etc." When I'm by myself it's not as fun, so I just take my list and get the stuff I need and get out.

When I'm hungry and shop I end up buying my snack type stuff than real food.

Don't shop with kids, thank god.

I spend more in the summer. In the winter it's like shopping alone. Get in, get out, get back to the warm house.
