How pathetic is this? I tripped over a pavement today.
Fell........... Owch, obviously i put my hands out to save myself. Result of which was busting 2 fingers on my right hand & knocking my wrist out on my left, several hours in A & E & am now home nursing my wounds with Ibuprofen & Vodka (no lectures please) i need the painkillers to kick in quick, hence the vodka.
So i sit here contemplating what i can actually do with my hands in the state they are in, not much really, its not as if i can work tomorrow (hairdresser is the hint here)
OMG what if i need to go to the toilet, can i manage without help
I do not want my partner to assist in this :yh_sick

Worse comes to worst, take the straw in your mouth and use it to hit the keys on the keyboard.
You'll look back on this and laugh. Especially after you go through attempt number five to get the toilet paper somewhere you can rub your ass against. :wah:
(spot can hit me in the head for you)

Big hugs for you Buttercup...hope you feel better...and if you can't get the straw to hit the keys on the keyboard, take the straw to your mouth and then put the other end between your arm and inside of your shoulder (arm-pit) and blow...it will make a fun noise that will keep you amused for a minute or two, I wouldn't recommend drinking with that straw after doing that...but it's all up to you...You are in total control!!!:)

Well ive just had A & E on the phone to advise me that the x ray i had done on Sunday has been reviewed & show the bones in my right hand are broken not fractured fingers as first thought & they are unsure how bad my left wrist is & may require more than just strapping up, so can i go back in
How's that for complete incompetance? Im left with a basic strap on broken bones for 2 days, im so angry i could cry, if that makes any sence.

Jasus Bejabers! I hope they don't have to re-break it to set the bones properly.
At least you'll have the two fingers set right to tell them what you think!

Ok left wrist is fractured near the thumb not severe enough for plaster so ive got some weird wool dressing covered by a bandage dressing, right hand is also fractures & not broken, although im told a fracture is a break but more of a shatter than clean (they seem to have no bloody idea what they are doing)
The fractures in my right hand are metacarple fractures (4 of) so ive still got my fingers strapped & the whole hand & halfway up my arm covered in the weird wool stuff & bandage. Im in a considerable amount of pain & its very difficult to do anything as im sure you can imagine. Apparently this will take at least 6 weeks to heal. I'll go mad stuck in the house for 6 weeks !!!!
Ive had to phone 2 bride's so far to say i wont be able to do their wedding hair, make up & nails, i feel so sorry for them having to find someone else at such short notice & am totally depressed at the loss of income, this is my busiest time :-1
Further to all that my left shoulder & neck are agony, how the hell could tripping over a pavement do so much damage to a person? You'd think i'd been in a car crash.
Is there a fg doctor in the house? cause i dont trust anybody who's been near me so far

I am sorry you are having such a hard time Butters, a fracture is actually more of a pain, as it is harder to heal. A break normally knits together very well, I have had about 9 fractures and 4 of those have been in the same place, they never seem to heal properly.
I am with you on the lack of trust with the Dr's, Dr G and Dr Spot will be here soon to advise :-4

I have had one in a wrist and one in a finger, the rest have been my ankles, I once fractured both ankles within 3 hours of each other, mind you I was slightly intoxicated

Mind you I wasn't amused when I got to hospital, I was so drunk they wouldn't give any pain relief until the next day, not good when the drink was wearing off :-5

Im in agreement with you there AF
This is what ive been told - Since these fractures almost always heal irrespective of treatment, they may as well be treated as a soft tissue injury with a supportive bandage.
Of course its not them in pain & they dont seem to give a fluck, i can only hope they are right.

Update - attended my appointment at the fracture clinic yesterday afternoon & was x -rayed again to see how the bones were getting on. As there has been no change im now in weird black velcro S & M type gloves with metal rods leading up to the thumb & wrist, back again in 2 weeks time for more x rays to see how the healing process goes with them on. Although the doctor i seen dident blame smoking for the fractures (they have to get in a dig  ) informed me that being a smoker we take longer to heal. In the immortal words of Jim - Yadda Yadda.
So anyway people looks like your stuck with me for a few weeks yet, now where's Nomad & the 'i knew it thread' :sneaky:
