Argh we are deep into a deluge, last nite 8 major roads were shut down due to flooding, 2 homes were struck by lightening one burned to the ground, and 2 people are in hospital as they were struck by lightening on the golf course. Many areas in the city suffered power outages. One school so far has had a roof collapse....We have semi's and cars stuck in water under most of our overpasses and the rain keeps falling!! I am glad I live on a hill. The lightening and thunder were crazy.

Here in Kansas we went from flooding too 60 mph winds today.

We have a break in the rain till tonite. Some roads are still closed, there is much flooding along our 2 river valleys, my mates daughter has had to evacuate her house, our shop is drying out again.

But more rain is due this eve. I suspect we will get more flooding from the rivers again and damaged bridges that just recently got repaired from the floods of 2005 Argh!!!

My house is fine so far The joys of living on a hill, however our area has 2 underground springs and they have been known to flood in extreme conditions. But I think for now it's all good.

Gosh minksy... "72 millimetres of rain fell in half an hour"? That's a stack of rain. I only once saw that much in so short a time, a mile-long cloud that sat stationary over Kings Cross station in London and completely flooded the underground train system. None of the drainage came close to coping. It was like the start of a monsoon. I stood in it and watched, it was so strange.

Your storm's huge by comparison - the headline I saw was "Excessive rain causes floods in three provinces".

Good news rain has stopped, weather forecast for the weekend is temps in the high teens with luck this will dry things up.

Again my house and my family are all fine. Our shop has dried out and no damage to our product. The city still has a couple roads closed for repairs and the rivers are incredibly swollen in some areas and flooded out in others. Thanks everybody for the concern. You guys are so kind. :-6

Oh man, Minks, you were not kidding at all. I am glad to hear everyone is safe and dry at the moment. those pictures of the lightening look cool, but had i been there i would have been cowering in the corner!
