I actually feel really sorry for those boys, they lost their mother in horrific circumstances and are constantly reminded by the press and television dragging it all up.
I think it's a whole media circus which leaves a real bad taste in my mouth, I won't be watching it.
After all we may be a free country, but how would most people like to go through the raw excruciating pain of losing a parent or child, then having it on TV or in the papers all the time, not many people would.
She was hounded in life to her death, the least they could do is leave her memory in peace.

I just saw something the other night on TV about someone wanting to release death scene photos of her and others not wanting them to.
I think I've already seen them on a gore site, at least it was a dead ringer for her (that pun was not intended) and they weren't that bad but out of respect for Will and Harry I think they should leave it alone.
I really liked Diana. That funeral really got to me.

The way to look at it is how would you feel if you'r mums last moments were on TV. They should let the poor girl rest in peace.I feel very sorry for William and Harry when they are not allowed to put that terrible night behind them.

It's all so sad how it ended, I remember bunking off school to watch the wedding, I remember thinking how I wanted to look as happy as her when I got married, turns out she didn't realize what she was getting herself into.

Yeah, that's for sure.
Which makes me wonder, what do you guys think about Camilla? Does anyone really like this woman? I mean over here, I think the general consensus is that she's a horse and we tend to think awful of her because she cheated with Charles. Is that a UK feeling too?

Pretty much, we all know that she will never be Queen as Charles will never be made King, it will go straight to Price William.
No-one will forgive the way that Diana was treated by Charles and Camilla.

I remember reading about a bracelet Diana found that was meant from Charles to Camilla. It was inscribed with some love sentiment. She found it before getting married. Sad.
Maybe a dumb question, Suzy, but since you mentioned how the procession will go, how does royalty work? Is there a place that explains how people get their titles and what the titles actually mean? I find all that very confusingbut very interesting.

Well, like for instance, why would Charles not be King? Is it his mother's choice or is there another reason? How come Queen Elizabeth's husband is the Queen Consort/Prince and not a king for marrying her?
What's the meaning of being a baron vs. a viscount vs. an earl, etc? How do you become one?
Stuff like that.

Not so sure you could learn from me Red :wah:
In theory the title should have been passed to Charles, but the general public don't care for him (see how nice I put that), so the general opinion is that it will be passed straight to Prince William.

Normally it would go to the eldest male heir with a female succeeding if there was no male heir. It should pass to Charles but doesn't have to. Odds are it will pass to William. The Royal family reign on our sufferance so if they do anything that makes them unpopular there is always the possibility republican sentiment will grow.
A consort is the husband of a ruling queen who was himself a prince (Philip was a greek prince). Used to be if a queen married her husband ruled-that's why Queen Elizabeth the first didn't marry. The title consort was introduced for Prince Albert (victoria's husband. He didn't become king cos victoria wanted to keep her constitutional position and also because the Royal family were so unpopular as it was another German king might have been a step too far.
You might find this useful for an explanation of the titles. Just think mafia family and it makes more sense. You used to be able to buy a peerage by contributing to the labour party but TB has been caught with his hand out. Poor dear was only doing what he thought was the right thing to do.

She seems to be doing a better job (in her post) than DPOW. Don't forget that DPOW shagged at least one onther when married, so IMO their behaviour was about the same.

I watched it, its sad of course for William & Harry but we must all remember Diana played up to the press as much as she hid from them. Further to that newspaper & magazine sales were as high as they were because people wanted to see & read about her, so technically its the people who hounded her, the press would not have had the job otherwize.
As for the Charles issue, i think he would make a fine king & have no objection to him becoming one, to the best of my knowledge there have been no polls of the British people to suggest otherwize. I should imagine the queen will stay on the throne until her death. I have the highest respect for the queen & have been shot down many times her for expressing that but it remains my opinion.

DPOW was not driving, her driver made an error that caused the crash. Read the Stevens Report. Had her driver not crashed, she might be alive today.
SuzyB;631380 wrote: The general opinion of the people of Britain is that he shouldn't be King,
Rubbish. From an ICM survey (March, 2006):
Q3a. Now that Charles is married to Camilla, should he still become King?
Yes 63%
No 34%
Don't know/Refused 2%
If you can find a more recent poll from a similar source that says otherwise, I shall be interested to see it.
SuzyB;631380 wrote: if you believe that their is not significant feeling against him, I would suggest that you have been asleep for the last 15 years!!!

I think the Queen has done a grand job, but I think if everyone thought more of Charles she would of handed over the crown a long time ago. The only polls have which I have seen has been conducted by television and a couple of newspapers, but of course this does not take into account everyones views, as not everyone voted!
I loved Princess Diana along with everyone else, which is why she was so great for papers and mags, but does that give people/press the right to hound people just because they are in the public eye?? I always feel really sorry for some famous people, especially Diana, after all she became public property because she fell in love. I would rather have a middle standard of living than be rich/famous and never able to relax.

Public will believe what they read, unfortunately 'comics' like News of the world & the Sun ect seem to reach more of the population than reputable one's.
Suzy :-4
Why would the queen hand over the crown? There is no need for her to do that.
Also you cant say ' i loved Diana along with everyone else' You can say 'you loved her & a lot of people loved her' Not everyone did, myself included.

This is a poll conducted where Prince William is in the lead to be our next King.
I do believe Bill, the facts you gave was if Charles should still be King where he married Camilla after being divorced.
