Story in the UK today, a group of people campaigning to allow Alzheimer's sufferers a drug which could allow them a little more time before the disease takes its hold, is £2.50 too much to pay for a human life?

I realy hope they win their cause.Carers have fought long and hard for this.Apart from the obvious better quality of life for theses poor people and their carers,NICE is not looking at the long term cost of people having to go into nursing homes as their condition deteriorates, and can no longer stay in their home.

Exactly and if this medication can prolong the time they can stay at home with their families and make life just a little easier for a little longer surely it is worth it...

What exactly is NICE? Are they like the U.S.'s FDA or a type of low income health program or....?
I would say if it helps even a little then it's worth the cost. It sounds like the usual BS we get here in the States.
