These Buddhists make these mandalas from colored sand!

Then when they're finished, they dismantle it so as to represent no attachment to the material world. A little too intricate for my patience level but very cool.

I actually saw this being done when I was an art student. Absolultely painstaking. They have little conical vessels and they make the sand come out by vibrating these vessels with a stick.
