I have been trying that Boots 17 beauty serum. You know the one that all the fuss was about, as it was on Horizon or something.Anyway after two months use I have seen a slight improvement.Mind you, some of my wrinkles are so deep it would take pollyfilla to sort them out. At seventeen quid a bottle it is reasonable compared to some creams.I will try for another month and if things don't improve I will just grow old gracefully,:(

I think it all boils down to your skin type and your genes to be honest. I've inherited a very sensitive and dry skin from my Dad, my sister seems to have more of my Mums skin type.
I just try to find anything unperfumed and with as little as possible chemicals in it.
Drink plenty of water every day, my skin is drier 24 hours after having a day when I didn't drink enough.

They've come out with so much advanced stuff in the way of skin care that I would think some of these creams would have to work even just a little. A lot don't though. I'll see $50 face creams in the store and look at their ingredient list and know right then that Elmer's glue would work about the same.
One tipoff of a crap cream is mineral oil. This is about the heaviest oil there is and never put this stuff on your skin, particularly not your face. All it does is sit there. If you don't believe me, try this: Put a saltine cracker in a jar of mineral oil and see how long it takes to get soft. It has absolutely no benefit whatsoever.

Do you know that from the age of 25 we have mature skin, from that age we should be using creams for mature skin, ekk!!!
My daughter is already doing a morning ritual of using cleanser, toner and moisturiser (she is 11 today).
I exfoliate twice a week and use different creams for night time, Mia, I also use the Boots serum, keep with it girl it's good :-6
The most important thing for the skin is a good high factor sun screen, no smoking and lots of water, of course genes do come into it but I believe everyone can improve their skin.
If anyone is interested tomorrow I can post some cheap alternatives to the shop brought masks, they do work just as well.

I dont use them .no doubt i will one day but i just cannot believe they work, give me a couple of more years and then maybe i will have to start using them:wah: :wah:Believe me Queen Nef i have tried them all, in the past i've shelled out from 9.99 to £80 and nothing, zilch, bugger all but a wrinkle free purse!
Just recently i paid out £650 for infills, the 1st lot was so painful it was like having toothache on my face.
The 2nd lot was'nt too bad as i had anaesthetic so it was relativly pain free.
The problem is, because the majority of them was sleep lines (i'm a very heavy sleeper) they're coming back and i'm really upset.
I do still use the boots serum alongside the day & night cream.
My advice to you would be to use face cream now, the sooner the better, your body yearns to be moisturised, i really honestly dont think it matters what brand you use, my nanna used Nivea for years and her skin was as smooth as a baby's bum when she passed away at 94!
My Mum's skin is just as good and she uses none, unfortunatley for me i have my dads genes.:-1

A recent show on TV examined several of the most expensive face creams on the market and reported that they really had no effect at all on the skin, other than to make the customer feel like good.

Oil of Olay is good product!
But if you have a neighborhood Avon lady, call her up and ask to try some of the Regenerist creams. I love them.

I think it is mostly genetic, minks. I don't know what to do to prevent it, pass on the news to me so I can be prepared to use it one day.

Avocados, though not cheap, are very good for dry skin. Cuticles and nails too. Both eating and applying the flesh too.

Yes, Magenta, the oils in the avocado flesh are great for skin. Even just rubbing the peel's inside on your face or your hands after you eat the fruit is a good thing. We used to sell avocado oil in my salon.
