Do you think that some people are just better off alone? Without a spouse or a partner?

I have trouble thinking of a clear response because of my beliefs about growth. I, surprised myself by thinking "Yes" when I first went to respond but part of me thinks that we are not meant to be alone. So I try to make sense of the conflict.
To say "meant to be" implies fate. One must then believe in fate to continue. I do so I will. I think that we are meant to learn certain lessons that we choose for ourselves in each lifetime (yes I also believe in reincarnation) if this lesson is best learned alone then the answer would be yes. What prevents me from saying no is the word "some"...some people. Yes. For some people this may be the best thing and so they will seek solitude. I would like to say no. That is the only conflict.
Is your question really are you meant to be alone? My intuition says that you may be alone for a while but that it will not be forever. For what my intuition is worth to you. It's a pretty safe guess anyway, regardless of intuition. :-6

Just read your intro so the answer is no, you are not alone. Maybe it is the boredom that I was picking up on? Maybe I was just wrong. Whichever.
You ask a good question anyway.

I think the most healthy way for people to live is as couples... If it is a happy fufilling situation. Nothing destroys healthy mind quicker than being matched with someone who is wrong for you. Humans need companionship and affection to flourish. Being alone becomes a habit. I have been alone for four years now,, It was uncomfortable for a couple of years, then you start to discover some of the
good aspects of it. You become very skilled at meeting your own needs. In every area of your life. You seriously begin to wonder.. Could I ever adjust again to having someone here with me? would I be willing and able to compromise?
On a good day. I like to think."Yeah, if I fell madly in love.. I could. On a bleak day
I think.. " No never.. I like it like this. Long stretches of being alone..plays games with your mind.

Quite possibly - though I can't imagine anyone would be better off absolutely alone - most people have a good friend or two, some family....

Man is destined to be with a partner. Being alone is an aberration of the natural order of things. Look at animals like pigeons who move in pairs. In my opinion, life is devoid of its meaning and beauty when a person lives without a spouse.

Koan,
No, I am not alone but you were not completely wrong, there was some allusion to myself in my question.

I think there are times or phases in their lives where people need to be alone. But it seems like most of us need caring people around much more than we need to be alone.
