I won't say how old or young I was but we met under some unusual circumstances and he decided pretty much instantly I was the one. I took a little longer. :wah: It was one of those things where I knew it was supposed to happen and I couldn't do anything to stop it. Would be a fool to try. We were together about four years and I think we could have made it if we hadn't been so naive and young. We didn't talk our problems out until they got too far gone. We both wanted things we really could not have while being with each other. We each had growing up to do and we couldn't do it in each other's company. Our parting was not amicable by any means and it took a lot for me to get over it but I did. These days, I am glad most of the time that things happened as they did (although I'm sorry we don't speak) because I needed it to be that way and he probably did too. We loved each other too much. That always sounds so lame when I hear people say it but now I'm saying it. It's true though. I wish him well and I still think well of him. He set the bar for every other man come down the pike for me and I'm grateful for that. I still love him and I still think highly of him.

I met my girlfriend in September 1971 on the day we both started Secondary School. She was briefly my "girlfriend" at school in the Spring of 1973 but we had to wait until middle age to get together properly. Obviously at our age we both have history, but I was married for 20 years to someone I didn't care for so only now, when I thought it had passed me by, have I found my first love. :-4

I was also very young when I met my first love. He died a tragic death. The experience altered many of my perceptions of life. My heart was so broken, and the pain was something I wouldnt wish on anyone. The experience was the catalyst for my beginning a spiritual quest looking for answers. I made many wrong choices in men, after I lost him. The reason for this is because I would overlook flaws, and not get angry because I had a fear that they could be gone in the blink of an eye. I adopted the attitude that it was foolish to wait for anything in life, because tomorrow might not come. As it turns out, the living men I got involved with.. because they were wrong for me, caused probably as much pain as losing my first love. I have never forgotten my first love, and I would give anything to relive one day with him. I always think that he would be dissapointed to know that I spent so much of my life with men who werent suited for me, because I know he thought I was special.

First kiss; I was 10, he was 13, as was his best friend, my second kiss. I think I had a crush on his sister too, lol my best friend. Never kissed her though.
First real love, I was 15, he was 19. He looked like Dennis Quaid, tall and great hair. He was from Germany, and went back for Christmas holiday. He hooked up with his ex. Knocked her up, dropped out of school and married her. It was all very tragic.
We ran into each other a few years later, and I was having a good hair day. He was divorced, but I said no to coffee anyway. He looked so good, and it was great to turn as I was walking away and see that "if only" look on his face.

I had many puppy loves, as I am such a romantic at heart. However, Josh was my first 'real' love. He & I were together for most of 8th grade, broke up, and got back together in the 10th grade. I lost my virginity to him. We were pretty much inseperable for the next three years, but the timing was still not right.
We both had a lot of life to live & growing up to do.
So, many years which included a marriage & divorce (him) and a long abusive relationship (me) later we reconnected. I found him thru the glories of myspace. The picture I saw was him covered in blood and dressed up like a zombie for a movie he was in. Awesome.
The "1st" date was like no time had passed for us. I resisted the relationship for 6 months, but he stayed quietly persistant. He is the greatest man I have ever met. He has done more for my sense of self than anyone ever has.
I can't wait to marry him.
The End.

Think I'm still waiting for him too....
My first LUST was Robbie Nicholson in High School....ha...he could do no wrong....
Spent 15 years with a man that I thought really loved me, since after all, he did tell me that he would die for me and I gave birth to his 4 babies....to wake up one day to him telling me that "its about time that I leave you and you get a job and take care of the boys"....etc. (much more dramatic...but don't wanna type it all)
I've spent a long time wondering if I'm meant to be with someone and having people tell me "he's out there"...."you deserve so much better than him"....etc.
Well, I just let go of a man that I thought was perfect for me, but the fact that he could just turn off the "I love you" switch to off....I'm thinking that I'm gonna spend some more time wonderin'!!
But thanks for asking...felt good to get that out!

Gail Funderburk. :-4
At least I think her name was Funderburk. It could have been thunderbird & I just mispronounced it.
I was five
She was seventeen. My sister's best friend.
She got me to eat the crusts of my sandwich when even my mom couldn't.
I can't believe the memories that are flooding back. Thanks Neffy! :-6

I think there are different levels of love.
Being In Love, Thinking you are in Love, and just Loving someone.
Thinking I was really deeply in love for the first time, I was 22 (and I now have his child) - left me for another woman when I was prego. But I am so much better off, he was an awful controlling *******.
Loving someone deeply, my last relationship that just ended. We were together for two years but something was missing and I always kinda knew that it wasn't IT.
And really being in love and knowing he is the one... well....
DUH DUH DUH... to be continued

The first guy I fell in love with raped me a year later while we were in one of our fight phases. Made me wonder what love is. Can't say I've really figured it out.

Cute thread
I got a few first loves
First innocent school time love A boy a year younger than me who had balls, he stuck up for me all over the place. He came to my grade 9 graduation, that raised a lot of eyebrows cause a girl didn't hang out with a younger boy back then. He was a sweetheart that was mature beyond his ages. Pity he moved away after Grade 9.
First go all the way, caution to the wind kinda love I was 18 he was 25, we worked together pretty much the entire office team shoved us together. I could not bring him to meet my folks they would have died knowing how old he was. He was a great guy, we had a lot of fun hmmm and sadly he moved away later on too.
*note to self, take more showers* :wah:
First serious maybe have a future together kind of love I was 20 he was 21, we got engaged, I broke it off before I knew I was pregnant, gave the baby up for adoption. And I don't have many regrets there.
And well I guess I am still working on the next "real" love ahahahahaha
