I feel uncomfortable being only one here representing West Virginia,that I know of.I'm tring to set a good example.:yh_nailbi

For thoes of you that live outside the US.You may not know that my state is known as the Hillbilly state.By some not all. A hillbilly they say is someone that is poor,lives in the hills.walks around barefooted,(because they have no shoes)marries thier cousin or uncel or other family members,has no teeth,uneducated. I'm sure there is more,but you get it.

My state does have it's share of poor people.but all is not what it my seem.some of us do quite well for ourself.And shoes,please,I'm a woman I have shoes!:yh_giggle

Feel free to add to the list of any wv steryotypes.REALLY it won't upset me. I would like to know what other people have heard or may even believe.

All I can say is hillbilly in our family is about the attitude, not the shoes and not the income bracket, not about being poor either. Unless we use it as an insult, then it means just as you said but worse. Otherwise to us, having hillbilly backbone is a good thing.

Not to derail , but I have friends who moved here from Wheeling. They lived on the island. They're some people I know. So there ya are...stereotypes. Pfft.

I live in the deep south..southern accent and all..its funny how northerners often dumb you down by how slow your speech is....:p
