I laugh at this being called the Phineas Gauge piercing. Phineas Gage got a railroad tamping iron jammed through his skull in 1848 messing up his frontal lobes. He was messed up ever after.

Parents of stubborn children in Minnesota may relax, Governor Tim Pawlenty has finally signed a body-piercing bill into a law at St. Paul, which will forbid underage youth from poking themselves. The law will be put into action from August 1. Don’t panic, as the law gives relaxation to traditional ear piercings and will allow those youngsters to pierce themselves, who get their parents along and they sign a consent form. He has also signed various other bills.

I think Gov. Pawlenty might have seen above featured chap, therefore, to save his country youth from marring their face – he passed this law.

This is not a Photoshop product. Let me introduce him to you... he is Bertrand “Razor Werthing, a piercing practitioner, who has pierced himself with four to six-inch rod driven through the top of the eye socket and up through to the top of the skull. He claims that piercing is ‘fairly safe’ and stresses on sanitation. He sanitized it ‘twelve times daily’ moreover didn’t take shower and said, “You wouldn’t want water getting in there; that could kill you. Specialists call this puncturing as the Phineas P. Gauge. According to doctors, it is not a safe process to demeanor by anyone on their own and requires a professional to conduct it, as it is no less than a surgery.

Beside, frontal lobe piercing he has pierced septum, bridge, labret and earlobe.

She first broke the record in May 2000, when a Guinness World Records official examined her and found 462 piercings on various parts of her body, including 192 on her facial area alone.

I have a guy who works for me that keeps getting things stuck in his head. Every time he comes in with a new one I tell him he needs to quit taking the shortcut through the sacred Indian burial grounds because he keeps getting shot in the head with odd metallic things.:wah::cool:

These people are making a bold statement, what it can be, is beyond me! I can't believe that all those piercings don't hurt! Furthermore, with so many punctures in their bodies, one would have to assume they are risking a major infection factor! I have a friend, that has a young friend with many body piercings. Whenever I see this young guy, it hurts me, to look at his nose ring, 3 studs in each ear, 2 tongue studs, & a pin through his eyebrow! He says the girls like them, well guess if it makes him happy then . . . . .

Surprisingly, Davidson, a nurse who now lives in Edinburgh, says she doesn’t like getting pierced and suffers for her art.

“I don’t enjoy getting pierced, but to break the record you have to get to a high level. I wanted to break the record, the Telegraph quoted her, as saying.

good grief.:lips:

I watched a documentary on TV about a doctor in the US who performed the first surgical lobotomy in the 1930s.

Soon, he streamlined the operation to pounding an icepick into the patient's frontal lobes by entering from the top of the eye socket. He twisted the icepick a bit, like he was stirring a cup of coffee.

It got to be such a routine that he drove around to institutions, and performed 50 or more lobotomies a day. The patients would line up, take a seat, then it was hammer time.

Many patients showed outward improvement in their condition, although many became very quiet and detached from the world. The doctor continued his practice well into the 1950s.

I think "Razor" Werthing probably gave himself a lobotomy. I'll bet "Razor" isn't as sharp as he used to be.

If piercings are placed in the right place, and aren't too crazy, they're perfectly fine. As for myself, there are 41 more piercings that I want to get. =)

But as to regards of that first guy, those piercings are terrible =/

Body piercings are nothing new. They date vback further than the Ancients In history. They dropped out of fashion for a few Centuries but some Ancients wore piercings as a sign of honour or baravery.

I think the people who find them disgusting to look at are the one's who have a problem. Today, It's about personal choice. The very people who critisize them probably have their ears pierced. Others just take them to the extreme. I do not have any piercings and never would but I would not judge any-one should they choose to have them. Man has been decorating their bodies for centuries.
