Reds 17 kids thread got me wondering about adoptions. If i were to ever do it which i doubt, the child would have to be a baby. Colour & slight disabilities wouldent concern me.

How about yourself?

I'd happily take someone on if I thought I could help them, but I doubt whether a baby would qualify for that.

I'm quite certain that no official agency would touch me with a bargepole as a potential helper.

Why do you think that Spot? Many single people adopt succesfully.

Local authorities have cut-off criteria outside of which I fall.

So if you could, would it be a teenager you would opt for?

I chose a baby as i dont want to take on any past issues the child may be dealing with.

I can't imagine I'd be much use to anyone pre-school. Memory informs me I'm not bad at teaching pre-school children to read, but that's a minor accomplishment. I'm better once they've reached school.

Buttercup I agree with you on that one.

If I was to adopt (don't think I ever will) I would prefer to adopt a baby

my dad that bought me up adopting me when i was 2 years old.I feel if he didnot adopt me my life would of been poo really.I think fostering and adopting is a great thing to do,to open your home to acomplete stranger and then learn how to love them is a very big feat in deed

And you were with him all the time until you were grown up, neffy? That must make a huge difference to someone, not being moved from place to place. It sounds like you struck lucky.

Butter, I would opt for an older child as I am not crazy about babies and do not have the patience they require. Definitely an older child.
