Heard this on the radio guess its been on the TV too but dont watch much. Staffy in a Pub attacked a little girl who recieved severe facial injuries. Was a bit angry with the landlord as he said the dog was known to be a bit iffy! Why didnt he talk to the owners and why did he let it in his pub near children, he has now banned all dogs from his pub! Not a good day for the staffy breed or any of us really, the childs father said he would push for dogs to be banned from public places I know it wont happen over night but we could all get the back lash again. My dogs are kept social as they go to lots of public places including pubs.
I cant tell you how cross i feel.:yh_angry

My first thought as usual is "what did the child do?" People will not like that but kids are notorious for doing stupid things near animals. Did she try to pet the dog and poke it in the wrong place or jerk her hand back to confuse the dog? Dogs don't do this for no reason for the most part. Ever notice most of these attack cases involve little kids? There's a reason for that.

That poor dog. My dog was killed by the neighbors' two Rotts right on my own damn property last year. The neighbors could not have cared less. They were dogs who were regularly in our yard, whom my dog played with. His friends.
It broke my heart.
The garbage who owned those two Rotts in the article should have the integrity to pay for Tag's bill. Stupid jerk.
Tag is a nice looking Lab too.

Ya'll already know how I feel about this. I won't bore everyone with my rage on irresponsible owner & hysterical public.
I'll just post a pic of my beautiful baby & let her face speak for itself:

little kids aren't being "stupid" they're just being little kids. Maybe there's something wrong with dogs that will attack so easily.
We had a German Shepherd when I was a baby and I did all kinds of things to him and nothing ever phased him. :-4

i am sorry sunny but i will have not wholely agree with you on this one,has you know i have 3 dogs and they are breeds that are always in the press for thing one or another.
It is also down to the parents,if any childern come up to my dogs i will not let them touch my dogs,if the parent ask me if they are friendly i then let the kids stoke them.
If we know childeren are childeren then it is as i have already said down to the parents to over look what there childern are doing

it is wrong to call children stupid when in their minds all they're doing is playing with an animal. That was my point.
And yes, parents should be watching what their kids are doing as well but the pet owner should be watching their animal too.

Your point is moot since I did not call children stupid. Please re-read. I said kids are notorious for doing stupid things. And they are. I did not say kids were stupid.

It's exactly this attitude that makes dogs dangerous. How many times at adoptions have I had nonthinking people come up to me and say "I want a dog my kid can ride on and pull his ears and tail and the dog won't mind." Some moron actually said that to me. I told him buy a stuffed dog at Walmart.

I know what you wrote. My comment still makes sense to me.
Parents should watch their kids and pet owners should be watching their animals.
That should be your first thought. Not "what stupid thing did the kid do this time".

huh?
there was no attitude like that. It was a family pet and it was very tolerant of me, that's all I was trying to say. Don't read more into it than what I meant.

Well your comment doesn't make any sense to me, Sunny. You are mistaken as well if you don't think consideration should be given to what the kid may have done to provoke the dog. I'm not going to argue with you. My position stands.

that is my point sunny, because your parents watched you and taught you how to respect your dog that is why you had no trouble
Only a couple of mths ago my staffy missy growled really bad at some childern and there grandmother stared at me like i was a piece of crap............but she let her grandchildern scream and tease missy snd i did ask her to keep her g/childern away but who was being responable then ?

Re: the man with 40 Rotts, I think that's way too many dogs for an individual but if he can handle them, I guess it works. BUT....if he's got to let them on on the road because he finds it exhausting to walk them on leash, then that's a sign he has too many dogs, IMO.
There's a woman out here who breeds them. (Grr! Breeders!) When I was last there, she had about 17 adult Rotts and 9 babies inside. The noise! I love dogs but that's just too much of a good thing for me.

well if you think I'm mistaken that is your opinion.
Like I said if the parents and the pet owner were being responsible than nothing would have happened.

See it's that prevailing attitude that kids are always "precious angels" who never do anything wrong and that the dog is always at fault that pisses me off. It's ignorant and irresponsible. I don't tolerate that kind of stuff. If kids tease my dogs they are told to stop and shown the proper way to pet a dog and if they can't grasp that, no more contact.

i think there should be a cap on how many dogs you can have, dog owners have also got to think about there neigbours.I had a new neigbour move in about 4 years ago we only had JJ then but she got my goat when she complained to the council saying they should ask me to get rid of my rottweiler:-2
I went round to see her and just pointed out
1 jj is a good rottweiler
2 get use to it has i am getting another one(Indy)
3 maybe youshould of come round yourself and told me your fears
well 5 years down the road she loves them to bits. I think ALL dog owners Should make sure they look after there dogs and respect other peoples feelings and repect your dogs
