This was on TV last night and i watched and it broke my heart:-1 whats your thoughts on this awful condition? I think she was so brave

I don't know....would her husband have wanted to be filmed like this? I just don't know. I'm sure though, that she did it for the right reasons.

That is something i did think Red,i use to train as a nurse on the ICU and saw alsorts of things,and one of them was that famliy likes to keep things private.I think she did this to high lite her situation so maybe more help could be given.All i know is watching took me right back to when my dad very very ill:-1

I didn't see the programme but I've listened to this brave lady being interviewed on the Radio several times. My belief is that this lady wouldn't have let this documentary happen if she believed her husband would object.

These programmes can only be positive because they bring out into the open the 'unspoken' and forgotten.

Several years ago, a presenter on BBC southern had breast cancer. She allowed each stage of her ilness to be filmed including the surgery.....many women were helped because this taboo subject was bought out into the open. Yes it's uncomfortable viewing but more often than not the good outweighs the bad.

I live in a Age Restricted Active Adult Retirement Community of 3000 individual homes where the average age of the residents is 67. I see on a daily basis any number of seniors with everything from the begining of Alzheimer's to various forms of dementia. Any number, when their conditions worsens, will move to a facility near here, that specializes in the care of Alzheimer's patients. Unfortunately, these facilities are not cheap and many cannot afford that kind of care, and are therefore dependent on family to take care of them. The good news is that there has been a real breakthrough in methods to stave off this disease and a cure may be right around the corner.
