Would you tell on a neighbor if you knew he was a thief? I believe this subject of being a rat came up on this forum a year or so ago. So, under what circumstances would you turn rat or snitch? If you were a witness to a murder would you testify? Your brother is a child molester and you know that he has molested some neighbor children. Would you turn him in? You find out that your best friend has been secretly been dealing drugs, what would you do?

Well, first of all, you can't say that someone is a thief unless it's been proven in court that they are indeed a thief... otherwise they'll accuse you of slander. You can say that you saw them steal something or take something and stick it in their pocket, though.

If I saw someone breaking the law or knew that they broke the law, though... I certainly would without a second thought. Not mentioning that I witnessed someone breaking the law would be breaking the law, too... depending upon the crime.

You sound like a lawyer--------I said "if you knew your neighbor was a thief", not calling him one.

i totally agree on this.

but i would also report any youths that are riding around on motor bikes on the public footpath wiwhere there are young children playing, just the other day we had these youths doing that and my young son who isn't 2 yet was in the garden playing and my son screamed cos of them.

So, are you saying that if you like a neighbor it's OK that he is a thief, but if you don't like him, you would report him?

And, drug dealings OK as long as it's not to children? How old are we talking about. 14 7 ??

that is a bloody tough question. If somebody was stealing from me I know I would turn them in yes. If I knew they were stealing food for their family, maybe not. If they were a murderer, or rapist, or molestor, or abuser yes I would turn them in. But then I spent 2 fear filled years living next door to an abuser and had called the police a number of times to file reports.

I would like to hope I never encounter a murder situation where it was an act of self defense and I knew that for certain because I have no clue what I would do then.

Oh drug dealing ugh that one is tough too, I am more tolerant of the herbal, deals (pot, mushrooms) than I would be of the chemicals and that seems wrong as drugs is drugs is drugs and I unfortunately know a few people who deal in the herbal drugs and I could not turn them in. I guess again I hope I never meet someone who deals chemicals.

Cocaine is a derivative of the coco leaf, (herbal). Heroin is a derivative of a poppy (herbal). What's the difference, one's processed and the other isn't? he he he
