How do I ask for a new public defender??

I'm due in court on the 17th. My first defender had to leave office because of his kid so assigned me to someone else without telling me. I've left three detailed messages with this new guy and he cannot/will not return my calls. I don't have time to waste. How do I go about getting someone else? Who do I ask? What do I do?

I may be wrong but I think when you go to court on the 17th you tell the judge just what you posted and that you wish another public defender. It may delay your case but it will hopefully get you someone who will answer your messages.:-5

They're appointed - you'll need to ask.
Keep close records on your calls - date, time, message etc.
It maybe the day of court that you'll need to explain/speak to the judge & explain you'll need another Defender appointed to you.
There should be a phone number on some of your documents - that could direct you & explain you need another public defender.
I'd start calling - Hopefully someone else knows ??
Stay calm

Red, really never had occasion to need a public defender so can't really speak with first hand information. However, I searched public defender on line & it came up with many sites one of which is this link. Good Luck!

'public defender' whats that?
Could it be a solicitor for cheap jacks?
I used one of these once, I queried about the solicitors assistance writing to the secretary of the firm he was with, she told me his writing was awful and he couldn't spell. Seeing as the assistant seemed to be taking on most of my case I asked the solicitor about his qualifications to which the solicitor went into a rage and threatened to withdraw from my case. I found that I was having to calm the solicitor down, ironic really when you consider I was up for assaulting a police officer?
After being sentenced I'd wished I'd made it all the worthwhile and assaulted my solicitor as well instead of trying to calm him down. Fancy using an Irish solicitor, I should have gone to a good Jewish lawyer and paid already!
