Studies I remember from psych class showed that girls stop learning quicker (stop trying so hard) when they become interested in boys. I believe that kids, regardless of equipment, learn things that interest them more quickly. Maybe boys just aren't interested in school stuff as much.
Maybe the fact that most school teachers are women, girls are quicker to understand what's being taught simply from the way it's explained.
Or maybe boys like hitting things with sticks & blowing things up. :yh_devil

Oh my AC, I hope your new students don't do that.:wah:
We need more male teachers, especially at the elementary and middle school levels.
Men and women are equal in learning abilities, I do not believe there is a difference. Standardized testing is not an accurate measurement of learning abilities-there are multiple methods of testing this.

I assume your not being too serious but made the comment in fun.
But there does seem to be a difference in the way men and women think. I have to admit that whilst on a camping holiday my partner was quicker at working out how to put up the continental tent than myself, its true that us men do not follow those annoying instructions on how to construct IKEA furniture as we think we are far too clever to need such instructions, then regret what the outcome of our creation having to take it all apart and read the instructions.
Most, not all boys have to have some kind of inspiration to learn awkward subjects at school where as the girls just got on with it. The boys often take the lazy way out. Why do you think the army with regard basic training have drill with some one shouting at the top of their voices at recruits and not letting them have time for their own thought?
Its because traditionally it was an all male occupation and men know boys and their weakness's. To get the best out of the males you have to start at an early age, you have to give them a leader figure, rid them of opinions and personality until they get to a certain level, do not give them too much leisure time but keep them on the go.
Women do not understand how a mans mind works, thats why boys should be basically taught by capable men.
But anyone who wants to go into the teaching profession these days must be barking mad. There is undoubtably far too many women teachers about, maybe the men are not so stupid as to take up the profession.

I doubt there is one difference mentally between the two sexes. I think socially those mental processes are affected differently and that can cause the test score results we see. The thinking process is not determined by sex in my opinion.

I think it is all down to the individual, my Son is very intelligent, maths is his 'thing' where as my Daughter is average but has far more perseverance and patience to keep trying until she gets it right.
Sam can read a book and retain all the information, Jenna can be shown how to do something and will remember, now Sam will not be shown a thing as he thinks he knows best (arghh).
Everyone has different ways of learning and different interests. I don't think it's a gender thing. When I was younger I was above average then I got to about 14 and boys seemed all that more interesting :sneaky::D
