It was 100 F Saturday afternoon as I was approaching the 11th tee on the golf course that I play. I was hot & sweaty and playing oh so so. The refreshment cart came around and I thought I would have a beer for myself and my partner. Lo and behold, they had a new beverage, "New Castle Brown Ale". Ah, what a treat, smooth, cold, refreshing, and then went on to finish the next 8 holes in two over par. I would think that the Newcastle folks would owe be a freebie for this plug of their delightful beverage.

One of my favourites... It's only in the 70's and drizzly outdoors, but... I suddenly feel compelled to run downstairs and check the fridge... I'm certain that I have one or two cold ones in there.

My first wife was from Kircaldy.
Every January 25th we'd have a wee drap of cratur.
Or two.

It should be - the brewer is the Black Sheep of the Theakston family and they've been brewing the stuff for hundreds of years.
