This little cactus only comes into bloom once per year and last for just 24 hours. Taken in front yard.

Nomad & Lon

The cactus will develope this pod growing off the main cactus, when it blooms vary from cactus variety.

The blooms are stunning - absolutely stunning and only last @ 24 hours.

Nice surprise

Very nice Lon. It looks like a small barrel cactus. Is it?

It's great for people (like me) that don't like gardening and is gone from home for a good part of each year. Little or no care is required for the cactus. Very popular plant in California and the So. West.

Lovely, Lon.

We have a large cactus out front that will bloom bright yellow flowers for a brief period of time. Cactus are low maintence plants and for admiring from afar.:wah:

Wait a minute, what is the plural for "cactus"?

I'm not sold on this.

Only one day a year it blooms. I think the flowers should be cooler than that.

It's kind of like buying a really big firecracker that only gives you one good bang. Where I come from, we call that a "dud".

I'd set up artificial lights and trick it. As soon as it blooms turn on the lights and make it think that the day hasn't ended for at least a week.
