Gimme a break will ya--------to call this multi million dollar signed pro quarterback's recent antics of Dog Fighting and Animal Cruelty a mistake is ludicrous. Mistake my ass. He knowingly conducted illegal Dog Fighting and then knowingly participated in the beating to death those dogs too maimed to fight again. It was STUPID, STUPID, STUPID, but no mistake. He makes millions in NFL money and endorsements and screws around with $25,000 pots on illegal dog fighting, now that's STUPID.

I never thought football was anything but stupid and anyone who played football I sort of thought was stupid so I don't understand why you would suddenly think something a football player did was not stupid, and get all bent out of shape, but make no mistake about it this could have happened to a baseball player too

There are even people that would call a person stupid for making generalized statements about those that play any sport-----even baseball.

And good lord, did you hear, hes found Jesus and decided to turn his life around. Now, he should put himself into rehab for anger managemet and he will have pulled out all the stops in the standard celebrity damage control moves.

This takes the attention off Bonds..
Yeh - Vick found God (Dog) - what a fool to jeopardise his NFL position.
Did Vick play without a helmet?

Excellent catch, 911.
I just saw his grandfather on TV saying what a drag it is that no matter how much good you do, everyone counts the bad thing more instead. Well yeah! If he'd killed a child would his grandfather take such a cavalier attitude? Idiots.
I'm pretty sure he's toast.

The funny thing is, He said he found Jesus then said " Because it is the right thing to do at this time". WTF.

Ouch! okay maybe I deserved that comment. It's just that I really don't like professional sports esp like football due to how the game and its players seem to be elevated above and beyond what the game was meant for (aside from the fact that I plain old do not understand nor like the game in any way shape or form), in my opinion only, and when I hear about these players doing these sorts of things and how media devours this kind of nonsense, and so downplaying the fact these things happen daily in the 'real' world without the publicity, that I get fed up with it.

With the exception of animal lovers everywhere, all his people seem to care about (and some fans) is whether or not he'll play again- not that he tortured dogs. I don't understand this braindead mentality. Surely we've risen above such dismal levels of inhumanity in society?

Although I abhor his actions, once he has served his time or paid for his crime, I think he should be able to earn a living. His living is football, however, who will offer him a contract and will the NFL allow him to play?

I'm all for him earning a living but I sincerely hope the level of adulation he's accustomed to recedes into thin air. All he's doing is maybe some time and adjusting his standard of living so to speak. Those dogs were living beings who paid with their lives. I know you know that, I'm just reiterating it.

Adulation for his athletic ability should be separate from his stupid dog fighting antics in my view. I am one that can separate one from the other. I hate Jane Fonda's behavior during the Viet Nam war, but thought her performance in "Klute" was brilliant. To add diminishing adulation to Vick's situation is pushing the knife in and twisting it. When he's paid for his crime, it should be over and done with.

I think you found the crux, Lon. How do we decide what a dog's life is worth? How much time should he serve? I'm one of those people who feels that a killer goes into prison, he still comes out a killer. I feel his character should be tarnished for the rest of his days.
