I am interested about different peoples reasons for joining a chat forum. What were you looking for? What did you think you would get out of it? Was it to have nice chats with people, share ideas, share experiences, or was it to find someone to pick a fight with - some people to vent and make you feel better?

I joined to chat with friends, meet new people and have a laugh. I have got this from FG. I have also got a lot of info. about many different things. :-6

I love to talk about Donegal, Ireland on the internet and couldn't find a chat room that was interesting. Most of the chat rooms I found were full of people that were monosyllabic. Everything was .....hi, I'm John.who are you? nice to meet ya...yada, yada, yada.... and then....... absolutely no conversation.

So, I finally found a chat room, after weeks of searching , called the "Virtual Irish Pub" which I think still exists but not in its original format. This pub was absolutely fabulous and then it was gone.....I Just like that .....POOF........ think I was a member for about 10 years or so. I was devistated to find it dissolved. FG is so similar to the VIP, especially as there are so many members not only from Ireland, the British Isles, and Australia but from all over the world. There is such a diversity of people in this forum and it's wonderful.

same as Indian Princess basically....saw my first forum on reunion.com and although some of the people were nice there was this one guy that dominated with stupidity...and I then wondered...:yh_idea if there were other forums out there, googled the word "forum" and POOF, almost a year ago, I was unemployed and sad and lonely and working two jobs, and found FG and I'm ever so greatful!:-4

Okay, Kathy and I posted at the same time and used the word POOF in our posts, you just don't get anymore of a connection of sista-hood than that!!:-4:wah:

Heh heh...well levity is good sometimes.

I joined Care2 about 7 years ago because it was a community of animal lovers and people who wanted to help world causes. Then I wanted something a little different, did a search and found FG. FG is still my favorite forum and I am a member of four or five I think but am rarely at any but here.

Well I'm glad you found FG - otherwise we would never of become friends. Its great to see you here. This is th 2nd forum I joined - the first just seemed full of people who wanted to fight (for no apparent reason or cause), so glad I stuck with it and found FG. :-4

Thanks Wendy, I come into the FG during the weekends and pop in for a bit during the week. I miss being in the FG all the time, but schoolwork needs to be done sometime. This place is too addictive:-4

Welcome Wendybunny, there was a Wendybunny as a member when I first joined almost a year ago and some odd 8,000 posts ago...notice I have NO clue what this addictiveness that you speak of is all about .......:wah::wah:

I have a need to express my opinion on any number of things and enjoy the challenge of trying to do so with the written word. I am not always around other people that are interested in discussing different subjects, therefore. Forum Garden and other forums that I participate in, serve that purpose.

I am also interested in what other people think and how they feel. I seek neither approval or agreement with any of my posts, nor do I seek long lasting friendships, most on Forum Garden will out live me anyway.

Hey Lon, we all love reading your posts and I think I speak for most when I say we enjoy your humour and ability to 'get things going'. I think that you never get personal, even when you disagree, which is a great way to be. Keep posting those threads - they keep us on our toes and get us all thinking.

If it makes you feel better....... I will try not to be a long lasting friend :wah: and try to outlive you :-4 .... although don't make any plans to go anywhere soon - we would miss you.

okay, smartie pants....I was unemployed when I found Reunion.com, and then a month later found FG and by that time I was working two jobs, sorry about that....I'm glad you caught it, ooopsie daisy me!:o

I joined to meet people and hopefully make friends and to have a laugh.

I don't drive...YET, and i'm usually stuck in the house with the kids cos i don't even have a double buggy to take them out by myself, so when my husband is at work, i like to have some adult conversation. Even when he's here, i'm still on this :wah:

So i believe i've got everything out of FG that i was looking for.

I was on another forum and it was ok and people replied to my posts but i didn't really feel like i fit in there, it's definately not as good as here, so i don't really use that forum anymore.

So thanks to everybody :-4

You're cute, Kinks. I can tell you have a lot of personality going for you and you have a great sense of humor that really comes across. So I followed some folks into their own forum (an off shoot) and it became too much like a soap opera and others came in and it got ugly so I vanished. Ventured out on my own and stumbled across to here...and so I stay I at the time of joining was impressed at the high member count and the fact that often we had 30-50 members online at any given time. That offered up loads of people to chat with. So I stayed, and none have compared since in membership numbers.

It's been a heck of an interesting ride here in FG I think there are a few of us who remember the good old days, and the bad old days, and then the good old days, and then the bad and yeah the cycle lives on.

I joined to meet people and expand my universe. I always wanted a pen pal when I was growing up. so I could learn about different cultures and people,and make a friend far away. now with forums I can have many "pen pals".
