I've modified this from another forum, thanks U2R! :sneaky:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How many ForumGarden members does it take to change a lightbulb? The answer can be found here:

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed.

14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently.

7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs.

27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs.

53 to flame the spell checkers.

41 to correct spelling/grammar flames.

6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb"...another 6 to condemn those 6 as anal-retentive

2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp".

15 know-it-alls who claim *they* were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct.

156 to email the participant's ISPs complaining that they are in violation of their "acceptable use policy".

109 to post that this group is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb group

203 to demand that cross posting to hardware forum, off-topic forum, and lightbulb group about changing light bulbs be stopped.

111 to defend the posting to this group saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts *are* relevant to this group.

306 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique, and what brands are faulty.

27 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs.

14 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's.

3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group.

12 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy.

4 to suggest that posters request the light bulb FAQ.

44 to ask what is a "FAQ".

1 to get deeply into the philosophy behind lightbulbs, do they exist if not turned on etc..

2 to inform everyone else what God thinks about lightbulbs.

3 to debate whether lightbulbs have rights.

4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

143 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs".

1 forum member to say "this is about me, isn't it?" and delete his/her account and leave with a doorslam.

793 to just lurk and be listed as viewing.

DaVinci woud have had to erase

Half of the Mona Lisa's face

If a lightbulb had shown

The mole that had grown

Where a nose should have been in its place.

(I used to be blonde ;) )

G'day Valerie. OOOPs, sorry Magenta!! But heck, I did at least add a few creative modifications.. (Newbie Pam... does it again!!!)

Has anyone considered the possibility (even inevitability) of coating lightbulbs with butter ???

Perhaps we should add a new thread, Valerie, along the lines - should you let your pet change a lightbulb? How many cats does it take to wreck the light bulb in the first place. (In my house of course it's likely to be possums - there's a family of them in my roof ...). Can dogs be trained to hold the new one while their human companion is up the ladder removing the old one? Can canaries detect when a lightblub (come on spell checkers) is about to go?

Then - really there are the metaphysical, cosmic questions, still basically undealt with. Like - why does a buttered piece of toast always fall on the floor on the buttered side... ? Why does a lightbulb decide to go, just when you are rushing to put on makeup to go out? Why does the loo light go when you really don't want it to? Is Murphy somehow involved?

I ADORE the poodle!! Oh la la !!! ROTFL..

As to Aussie possums, they are different to your ones, more like squirrels - which Australia hasn't got. Nice little critters.

This one's in a camellia tree... must have strayed a bit. One bounced off my roof the other morning, round 5am, tried to land in the gum tree outside my window, missed, and crashed to the ground. Didn't seem too bothered by this either..

Thanks PinkChick!!

My absolute favourite lightbulb is the atmospheric swinging one at the start of the old television series of Callan. It still gives me goosebumps.
