Eight days ago I started taking Chantix. This is the newest stop smoking pill. I am generally against any of these weirdo meds,,, but I tried to quit, and have had to admit I cant. I starting hearing success stories about this medication , and decided to try it. This pill attaches itself to the neurons located in the brain of a smoker, that controlls the pleasure derived from the smoking. The way I understand it. For the first week you still smoke. This morning was D day. I was supposed to wake up and not want to smoke anymore. IT DIDNT WORK. I got right up, lit up a cigarette, and got my coffee. To make things worse, the pills are making me really sick, and weird.

Nauseous... feeling hung over... no longer have need of a bathroom ( pleasant way to describe the condition huh?) And dreams the likes of which I would imagine are like hallucinations from LSD. The other night I dreamt I was in bed with Tony Kaluba... you know the guy who plays MONK? Smoking has never made me feel like this. I dont think I am going to take tonites dose.

Anyone have any experience with these pills?

I've been considering Lobeline and a big can of willpower.

So was Tony any good?

Anyone have any experience with these pills?I was on them for 16 days.

The first week started to cut down without me realising i was.

The second week my cigarette tasted foul.

The third week the nausea started, I would feel sick the whole 12 hour from the morning tablet to the evening tablet.

Day 16 I stopped, I could'nt face the thought of spending all day feeling sick.

As for the dreams, phew did I have some fantastic dreams, the good thing was, I never woke up at the crucial moment if you know what i mean ;)

I would go the whole 9 yards, even to the point of having a cigarette afterwards!

I dont think I was having a horny dream, I think it was a dream about having a ciggie. :wah:

ps, I'm still smoking, but thinking of going back on them just for the good sleeping. :o

Sounds too intense, weeder. Don't take them if you feel this sick.

Tony didnt take his clothes off.. I just layed there, looking at his head, and watching his stomach go up and down. It was awful. He also gave me a time card to punch, before we went to bed.

Abbey, Im sorry you were sick... but its good to know they made someone else sick too.

Chonsi... You are the voice of reason. Its after 10.. I havent taken the night pill... and Im not going to. Your right. Something that is making me this sick, is no better than the cigarettes.

Ill either kick it on my own.... or I wont.

nothing will make you wake up and not want a cigarette. You have to have your willpower set to do it no matter what method you choose. And have memories to pull out when your mind tries to trick you again.

I quit at the start of summer using "Resolve" but I didn't finish the program. Just started not taking the tablets every dose and slipping and decided to toss the program and the smokes at the same time. I still fight cravings every day though.

My physician friend told me today to either cut the pills in half, or only take one. That of course would cut their effectiveness in half. So, what is the point. Ill tell you the knowledge that they are messing with my head ( I could feel it) is worse than being nauceous. The nausea I could fight by drinking liquid satan ( pepsi or coke) And Koan your so right the mental is the biggest thing. When I lit up this morning, it was like I was DEFYING the pills. Unbelievable. Crazy. Addicted. 130.00 $ down the drain.

I took zyban which must work in a similar way. One pill made me feel floaty and nauseous...but not enough to make me not want to smoke. Two made feel like I'd been doped with roypnol. Completely spaced out, terrible dreams, a loud ringing noise in my ears, dry mouth, strange hallucinations that I can only describe as dreams while I was awake. I certainly wasn't safe to drive.

To go through this and feel so ill and still smoke was unthinkable so I cut the tablets in half (as someone suggested to you) and stuck with it. I haven't smoked for nearly two years now and I loathe the smell of tobacco. Prior to trying zyban, I'd had patches, gum, willpower etc and nothing had worked. I think the trick to giving up, is not to give up giving up. Chantix might not have worked but I'm sure something will if you're determined enough.
