Today I received the third notification from three different banks, asking me to upgrade my banking information... or they will suspend my account. Took me a bit to catch on as the first notice was from my own bank. But now I have received two more Wachovia was one B&B was the other. I also discovered that Mcaffee will shoot up a sign saying that the e mail could be spy ware. Be careful. I know that many of you are so much more advanced than me on the computer. But if this had been a couple of years ago, I definately would have complied to the request from my bank.

I bank with Wachovia, I recall that they did sent me something saying there was some 'duff' notices going out to try and get personal info. out of people - so to ignore. Did you not get this?

I didnt get that notice... However I left out the most important part of my post. I do not have bank accounts with Wachovia, or B&B. The first notices came from Bank America whic is my bank. They said that there had been log in attempts on my account. ( I knew this couldnt be true.) No one has my pin numbers or acess codes. I ignored the message. There were a couple. And as I suspected, my account was never suspended. It was a fishing ploy.

Then I got B&B identical notice. Then today Wachovia. So I know for sure that they are scams, as I do not have accounts with these banks.

Oh, that is scarey if it is not your bank. You should probably let your bank know about this.

No bank will ever send you an e-mail asking you to post you pin details in an e-mail or on a web site.

This is a common scam trying to get details for an identity theft or to strip your account.

Report it to the bank concerned and they will try to trace the fraudsters.

It might need adding that there are also phone calls from people claiming to work at banks who will try to get exactly the same information from you, claiming that there's a problem they need to sort out or that they're performing an internal audit. Don't believe them, don't give any personal or account details over the phone, much less a PIN or security code or account "secret information" like your mother's favourite colour.
