I usually instantly hang up when I get these calls. The ones that really caught me off guard when first coming to US, were the police officers calling....'Hello this Officer blahblah, from blahblah force....blahblah....I am collecting money for.......blahblah. First my stomach drops through the floor, then I get angry for them frightening the sh1t out of me (as you instantly think someone is in trouble), then I'm thrown off guard again....eventually I hang up.

I used to do telemarketing and wouldn't wish it on an enemy. I try to keep them from going through their whole spiel, politely tell them thanks, but no thanks, and then get rude when they persist. Or I let the kids answer and tell them I died last week as the pretend to cry. :wah:

:wah: MiniMe starts talking in Chinese - that just cracks me up and works every time - now THEY hang up :wah:

My daughter answered the phone once thinking it was a telemarketer. It was an insurance company. She started speaking in Spanish. He called back and started speaking in Spanish. It was hysterical!
