The incredibly talented musician and artist (who I once kissed....did I ever mention that? :D) is 65 years old today. Still going strong too with a new album. Any other devotees?

Wow, kissing Joni Mitchell!! That's something!

I'm not a huge fan but there are some songs of hers that I do like. I understand she's very politically active, particularly about the Iraq mess. She doesn't look 65 either! :)

My daughter took my Clouds and Blue LPs to university with her, she's as impressed as I am. Iconosculation is out of my league though.

I picked up the new album, Shine, about two weeks ago.

She's still got it.

She kind of threw me off with that Mingus phase she went through. I never really connected with her after that.

Still Ive always enjoyed her innovative style.

I've got every album which includes Mingus. I'm not too keen either but it completes the collection.

By the way, my maths aint so good, she's 64 :o

The new album still has that Mingus feel.

My review is that it sounds like she got a new studio for Christmas and is trying out every preset.

But no one can do that like Joni.

A co-worker told me about the time the radio played Joni singing "Big Yellow Taxi", and her seventeen year old daughter said "hey, that's a Counting Crows song"!

She actually prefers Nazareths version of "This Flight Tonight" to her own.

This thread brought me to sit and pay attention to this album.

If you're a fan of Joni's, buy it.

It's her best work ever.

She is the most original artist and poet ever recorded.

The title track alone is worth a grammy, a spot in the hall of fame and a place in history.

Right now Bob Dylan and Patti Smith are sitting together saying. "Damn!"

I've fallen in love with her all over again.
