I love to dance. Not much of a drinker though.

I'm verging on going out tonight to the local dance club but at 37, and not going there to pick anyone up, I usually end up feeling out of place. I'd go by myself, find a corner to call my own, nurse a bottle of Smirnoff Ice for the night and try to ignore the young girls wearing not enough clothing to keep them warm.

I'm gonna give it a go.

Start making myself look reasonable about 8... that should take two hours :D and show up fashionably late around 10pm

Thats a bit early surely? Unless you want the dance floor to yourself of course :wah: What time do your clubs close?

I went a few weeks ago. It was the first time I had stepped foot in a club in 7 years. I paid for only one drink the entire night and I went home with the bartender. She is a good 5'11" tall, blonde, perky, and 31.

She cooks a mean omelet.

Go for it.

You should go, Koan. Enjoy the differences between 20 something girls and a 37 year old woman. Besides the mode of dress. ;) I hope you have a good time.

I wouldn't mind the dance floor all to myself. :p

People start filtering in around 9 but all the fashionably late people show up at 10. I think last call is at 1 but I wouldn't stay there that long. The only thing that might keep me in is that it's freaking freezing! I'll have to decide if I can dress warm enough without pulling out my Michelin Tire Man jacket :wah:

I'm your age (give 'r take a few months) and would be right there with ya'... then again, neither of us look like we're in our thirties. I don't even hardly think about it... (you'll only stand out if you dance like this smilie > ) :yh_dance

One of my favortie times in a club was almost 2 years ago (I was 38) and an adorable 24 year old kept me company all night...and we just had a blast and a girl HIS age that went to school with him, was EXTREMELY jealous and kept pulling him away from me...and even made a comment how I was old enough to be his mom....I couldn't help but laugh, because when they were done dancing...he was back RIGHT beside me!!:wah::yh_dance:yh_dance

Anddddddddd I rarely drank anything but diet soda...because I had to drive home...I thought about going again....but I don't smoke, don't drink, I have no interest in picking anyone up....I just LOVE to dance!:)

Koan:wah:,

I hope you go to the club and dance your fanny off:wah: You'll never know who you'll meet. Maybe you'll just meet someone who also just loves to dance.

I know how you feel. I absolutely love, love, love to dance, but there are really no clubs near-by. The ones here cater to the 18 yr. olds. You'd have to go into NY or Philly to go to a real club. AND, that's a bit hard since both are 70 miles away.

Have a great time if you go, and let us know all about it.

Hope you don't meet these guys??girls?? Whatever??

Tell us allllllllll.....

well am a newbie but felt compelled to add my two penneth worth.

I hit the big 40 this March and I for one have never felt better.

We have nothing to prove like the younger peeps.

Of course my short skirt, bra top and stillie (high shoes:cool:) are over but I can look damn hot and be covered up lol...

I love to dance, I dont drink, im mad enough without the demon inside me :-3

Age is just a number.......Its how you feel inside that counts and if you feel like going to the local club and dancing your lil heart out..you go for it..only here once ( so im told) so do all you want while you can...

Did you hook up with a omlette making bartender too

I got really cold repainting windows at the end of the day so I ended up just having a bonfire and staying home. I might go out next weekend when the urge hits me though. I want to walk there and back so it somewhat depends on the weather.

I could show those girls a thing or two about shaking their booty though :D

ok. probably not.

I have to say the last time I was in a dance type club it was like being in an alternative universe, I do go out and play music and that though so I am not dead and buried yet. Though I don't really drink and in Ireland its kinda a requirement that you are out of your face on drink by about 9.30 pm on a Friday night or people kinda look at you funny, or maybe it just feels that way sometimes.

I was a never a big dance music person anyway even when I was younger so the club thing I just don't miss, its good to get out and see some live bands though, the kids are back into bands big time nowadays, its great!

Still its cool for those that still enjoy the club scene and I certainly wouldn't say 37 was too old to enjoy it, though I would say that cause I am 35!

I love clubbing, I don't go as much as I used to as I find I have less patience with drunken idiots!

I went last weekend in Portsmouth I was feeling pretty good until Jim's 18 year old Sister asked if I was feeling ok, because I was the oldest person in the club lol.

LOL

I'll probably be the oldest too.

I didn't chicken out, I just find my home incredibly comfortable and hate being cold. It takes me a bit to get out the door but I'm always glad when I do.

I do the same when I have no plans.

Should I stay or should I go now.

I did have a while when I didn't like being around people at all. Now, every time I go out, total strangers say hi to me when we pass and I find myself talking to tons of people wherever I go. I actually enjoy going out.

It will be interesting to see what the next generation is like. Essentially, that is who I'll be dancing with.
