Jimbo, Good question...I think there's a lot of reasons.

*no diggy camera

*don't know how to upload

*just don't want their mug on the net for privacy reasons

*or feel that they don't look good ,and people will judge them. How often have people chatted with someone and then looked at their pic and said, "Ooooohhhh, I didn't know you looked like that...." in a negative way

Guess that some people just love you for who you are and others want you to look and behave a certain way. Otherwise they don't want to know you. Dr. Phil had a show on yesterday about people who will not even look at you unless you're of a certain caliber....right looks, right hair, good shoes, pretty eyes....yada yada..........

I have a pic of me and my grandson in my profile and a pic of my family on one od these threads. These are pics that are at my shop that the wife brought down. I would put more up if I had them but I do almost all of my posting from work so don't have the pics here or on my comp.

It took me years to work up the nerve to put mine here after I did post a pic once (not here), and someone from my past I didn't want to find me, found me.

I take pictures. I don't get pictures taken.:p

Let's face it, none of us know each other personally ( I know, there are some exceptions) and if like me, you live on your own, it's better to be safe than sorry.

I know, the regulars here know where to find me :wah: I just don't like too many photos going up, some have been posted without me realising they were going to be posted. I'm a bit more relaxed about it now but I still would never put my photo up as an avatar or post photos of my children.

I didn't post any photos of myself or family until I got to know people here. I see what people are saying about weirdos, but unless you have someone in your past or someone who would stalk you regardless, I'm not sure that by posting a picture of yourself would cause problems (any more than you might get). I guess if you started getting intimate with a weirdo on-line you could be on dodgy ground.

Okay I'm gonna remove my avatar (which is not me really but a russian tennis player :wah:) and put up the one that suits my character. Something like Mrs Potato Head or Sandy from SpongeBob. Any suggestions? :wah:

And yes, we are a society completely absorbed by physical apperance. I was forever cured when I met all of the incredible online friends in England. Not that they werent all nice looking..... but we were an unlikely group of people, all very different. None of us probably would have approaced the other to be friends, if we had just seen each other in real life. I fell in love with everyone. Missed them for a very long time.
