I went to see Amy Winehouse at the National Indoor Arena last night as she kicked off her UK tour. The bookies didn't think she'd turn up and neither did we. She was due onstage at 9.20 but made it about half an hour later.

It was quite pitiful to watch as she is truly troubled. The audience tried to lift her, but to no avail. She staggered on drinking and stumbled about quite a bit. Her co-ordination wasn't too good, struggling to put a guitar back on its stand or knocking the mike stand over and dropping the mike for example. She cried a few times and kept going on about her old man who's banged up. You had to feel sorry for her, but the vocals were so bad, fans started voting with their feet. At one point the audience started booing. She said that they were idiots for buying a ticket and called them "Monkey c**ts" She threw her mikestand into the gap between the crowd barrier and downstage edge. My son was standing front centre and as the stand flipped up, it just missed his eye.

She said it was her last song then stormed off and as an encore was out of the question, everyone started to leave. Then all of a sudden she was back onstage ranting about the booing again and saying that her husband would sort everyone out when he got out of jail. She could hardly sing and just kept crying, before throwing her mike down and running off halfway through "Valerie", leaving the band to finish. It's all over the papers, TV and radio here. It was real car crash "entertainment" and sad to watch. You didn't know what was coming next, but you sensed that she was almost over the edge. Not sure if the tour will continue, but she needs help and she needs it now. There is no doubt that she is an incredible talent as Back to Black clearly demonstrates, but she seems to have that self-destruct button that we see so often in creative people. Hope she gets sorted, I really do.

No idea who Amy Whinehouse is, but whoever she is, boo tooo her for almost hitting your sons eye.

She'd do much better as an artist if she just stuck to the recording studio and made videos.

Aside from that, as long as she continues to make money she'll likely continue her path of disaster.

Another very talented singer,who has ruined her life with drugs.She is on the road to an early grave.

It is a shame. She has an amazing voice, but like so many people her age; famous or not, she has fallen victim to the bottle.

It's just sad. I didn't know much about her until recently and then I got hooked on that voice and I admit, the kitschy retro style too. But it seems like she's always in the news and always being described as a train wreck and even just reading about some of her behavior makes me embarrassed for her. It's a shame because it probably won't stop until her heart does.

I just don't get her. Do to her popularity I tried listening to some of her stuff, but she just does nothing for me. The to top it off, I read things like you posting and see her at some recent awards show where she couldn't even talk.

What a waister.

I love her voice and I play her back to black cd all the time. what a waste...Drugs and drink to blame once again...However I have learnt all the songs on the ‘Back to Black’ album off by heart so if she does need me to stand in, I can don a beehive wig and go and do a better job lol

I think it's disgusting that her 'fans' booed her at a recent gig (read this morning on Yahoo News). Not only does it take a lot of guts to go onstage and perform, which I bet none of them would ever do, but with her husband in jail - they're lucky she found her resolve and was professional enough to let the 'show go on' and not cancel under such circumstances - if thats not fan dedication I don't know what is and thats what she got as thanks. If it wasn't a flawless show - again, think of the circumstances innit! She's a great singer/songwriter and unfortunately, people are more interested in what drugs she's doing and judging her PRIVATE LIFE. If they want to see a nice, safe, brainless act, they should go and see the f**king spice girls. As Bill Hicks said - "If you don't think drugs have done good things for us....All the artists who wrote the music that enhanced your lives over the years, were real high on drugs..." Retrospectively, no one says the Beatles were a 'bad influence' do they? Her habits are her own, I just love her music, and would have given my right arm to see her gig, so I just wanted to raise a fat index finger to those complete morons! I'm so glad that in a time when we're not allowed to smoke, told what we should and shouldn't eat and are scrutinized heavily for any vices, there are still artists who do what the hell they like and in one way or another, stand for freedom of choice and expression. They are always so much more interesting and talented than the rest of the long list of painfully boring UK acts.DUH! :-2

I kinda think that the fans that have spent X amount of pounds to stand in line to buy a ticket would dissagree!

The BBC has a strange news item this evening...A statement was released on Amy Winehouse's behalf.

It said: "Amy Winehouse attended a London police station today on a voluntary basis at a pre-agreed time. She was arrested, as is common practice, she is being interviewed by police." What sort of circles does one move in where "arrested, as is common practice" is the norm?

Well, arrested is not charged - as far as I am aware it's the same as under caution.

She was arrested for "questioning" most likely...you can be arrested for suspicion...but only if your "booked" do you see charges on your record. Thats probably what they meant "as common practice" maybe they should have said "being detained"...it is sad ....shes definetly a rock star though..with the drugs and alcohol to prove it! She really does need to get her @$$ to rehab !!! She can afford it...I feel more sorry for people who are on that destructive path and have no one to turn to!

She was arrested on Tuesday night for perverting the course of justice. As yet No charges have been brought.'

Just to wear my pedants hat for a while -



being under caution mean that whatever you say can be used as evidence in court, as a voluntary attender you would still be under caution before being interviewed. Often voluntary attenders think they can just walk away if they don't like the line of questioning - they can but more often than not they would be arrested to ensure they stay!



Don't know why she was arrested but it does tend to imply that she has done something that could warrant a court appearance.

I hate to see talent like hers go to pot. I really do.
