Bag Balm
despite its name, it's meant for use on your hands.

After this description I might prefer some private Nomad time with it.
Lyndonville, Vermont is in the heart of Vermont‘s picturesque Northeast Kingdom region. We started here in 1899, and we‘re staying here. With scenery this beautiful, why on earth would we go anywhere else?

Usually a cortisone cream will help and where gloves at night to best keep the moisture on your hands.
Your very cold dry air deprives your skin of moisture just as a hot dry climate.
Do you take vitamins? I would encourage you to take Cod Liver Oil (gel pill) Vitamin E and a few others - if this happens every year or often - your system is lacking something.??

Hi Nomad,
Yes, aloe and bag balm are great. Also try Aveeno (one of the best) and gold bond. A few times a day apply Jergens Ultra Healing moisturizer.
When it's really bad, a dermatologist could give you a perscription for Hydroxyzine and Clobetasol that will help with the itching. We tend to scratch when our skin is dry and these perscriptions healed my battle wounds.
Feel better:-6

Aloe is a plant - you'd probably need to order thru the net and then theres the red tape with the agriculture clearance...

Hi Nomad, I have this same problem, down to my hands cracking and bleeding after being out in the cold. I have tried tons of stuff. I have found these to be good and am using some of them presently:
Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream (very concentrated, originally made for fishermen, contains lots of glycerin)
Eucerin Aquaphor Advanced Therapy Healing Ointment
Aveeno Intense Relief Hand Cream (24 Hour Moisturization and contains oatmeal to stop itching)
Curel Targeted Therapy Hand & Cuticle Cream
Eucerin Calming Creme (Good for wearing overnight)
It's not very romantic, but I sometimes wear a pair of cotton jersey work/garden gloves to bed after applying an overdose of hand cream. The gloves keep me from being gooey and my hands get to heal overnight.

Hi Patsy and Kathy
Ok thanks for the tips.
I always feel guilty when I ask for anything.
Can I give you $ or a backrub or something ?
I have some new Nikes.....theyre yours.

Also Nomad, if you want to order from The Vermont Country Store.
www.vermontcountrystore.com they sell a good product called Lotil Cream. It's a little pricey as is all their stuff, but it's good stuff and the company is a good place to do business.
