I know that there was another thread about "Road Rage" but couldn't find it. In that thread I told you about a bad incident that I had when I flipped the bird to an a****** who was tailgating me. I promised myself that I wouldn't do that again. WELL...duh....I did it again......
I've been really upset lately about an incident that I had this past Wednesday. Hope you don't mind me talking about it. I had a very long week at work and was finally driving home about 10 at night. I was absolutely exhausted but in a good mood because the long week projects were over, and I could finally rest.
It was so difficult driving home because there was a lot of fast moving traffic and everyone was going way beyond the speed limit. I was driving about 10 miles over the limit. I was so sick of people tailgaiting me, and it put me in a bad mood.
When I was finally nearing the end of my journey home, I became so annoyed with the driver behind me. This car was practically on top of my car and the headlights were blinding me. So, I pulled onto the main road and as this driver passed me I flipped the driver the bird. At that moment I realized what I had done, but it was too late...stupid me:-5 I was hoping that they didn't see it, but they did.
This driver almost killed me. They kept pulling over into the lane that I switched to and then practically stopped their car on a road that everyone was driving at least 50 miles an hour. I felt that their intention was for me to smash into the car. This road rage went on for 6 miles. Finally, I decided to pull into a U turn and try to lose them. They were waiting for me and couldn't follow me. Thank goodness. Luckily I escaped this road rage for now.
But, now I have fears that this person might find me. They were heading in the direction of my town and might even live here. Even though it was dark, you could certainly make out the design of my car. No one in my town has my type of car.
I am still so upset with this episode. I cried when I came home because I couldn't believe my stupidity, and I especially can't believe the anger of this person. OK, I was absolutely wrong to flip the bird, but how angry is this person that they almost killed me???????????
So now I hope I've learned my lesson not to flip the bird and hope that this person doesn't find me because I'm sure they know what my car looks like and saw my vanity license plate.
I'm still scared about this person and carry my cell phone directed to 911 and am watchful of all cars now in town. You never know, tons of people drive into town everyday and might notice my car.
So, my friends....stop tailgating and check your road rage.
Thanks for listening to my problems...I'm still very scared...

Well Kathy Ellen, I don't think you were so wrong ethically; maybe it wasn't the safest thing to do but I can certainly understand why you flipped him off.
I doubt this person is giving you another thought. They're probably tailing or cutting off someone else by now. You're smart to be on the lookout yet I'd bet that the person's anger was fleeting and that all is ok now. I'm sorry you had this scary experience.

WOW Kathy!! I would've done the same thing....I flip the bird every now and again...it doesn't give them the right to try to kill you...I've had people flip me off and call me names....I didn't try to kill them....
I hope that they were just having a moment and this will be a mere memory for you....:-4:-4
Sending many hugs to you my sweet friend!!:yh_hugs

Kathy, I'm always giving the other fkwit drivers the two finger salute, only I hide mine just a tiny bit below the window... GEESCH. Don't worry about it. I'm sure the clueless loser drongo other car was just steamed up at the time, and it will by now all be forgotten. They were probably in a drunken blur anyway. Baskards!!!
I had a friend a while back who'd been a nun. When other drivers pyssed her off she just made the sign of the cross at them, and looked demure and slightly martyred. She reckoned it mostly worked a treat.
Sending loads of hugs your way.

Drivers should stop tailgaiting..period. What if you had to make a sudden stop?
Anybody driving unsafe like that deserves the"bird".

Yep KE, "tailgaters" should be shot!!! Too bad you didn't get the plate # of that dufus & turned them in! Those mentally challenged idjits are "killers", waiting to & eventually will "kill" another driver someday. It's only a matter of time, when using their car as a leathal weapon as they were doing.
As far as that dufus actually stakling you, that seems unlikely, as their "rage" is usually only on the road (road rage) during driving. So unless they are a sadistic phycotic, you should not find them searching the streets looking for you. Best Wishes!

De-program yourself. Dont do what you usually do. It takes effort but it can be done. I did it.
I used to get very upset in traffic.
I didnt like myself like that so I made a decision to alter my behavior.
When I saw I was getting angry I would say STOP. Breathe. Relax. Im in control. Easy.
It was very natural for me to flash to anger, it was within my right to do so because Id been offended in some way and I do love being indignant. (one of my many flaws)
I dont feel that way any longer.
Now its very natural to be calm in traffic. I cant change the way other people behave but I can control myself.
It probably took me more than 100 times of talking myself down but one day I found I had become the way I wanted to become.
Try it.

Last week I allowed myself to succumb to a flash of rage.
I was cycling to work and a woman sped past me simply to get to a stop sign a few yards away. I came to a stop behind her and sidled up to give her new car (it still had the "I Got Mine At..." dealer ad in the plate brackets) a solid swat on the left rear quarter panel. She flung her door open swearing like a sailor with Tourette's. She looked like Momma in Throw Momma From the Train. Kind of scary. I'll be keeping my hands to myself from now on.
I'm thinking of getting a whistle. Or an air-horn.

Sorry Cars. I already bought it!! Wanna come for a ride??? I'm overdue for shooting up some street signs!!! You can drive, I'll pop them. I know where there''s some great kanga crossing signs. You come too, Kathy. I found you'd left a few esky full's off cold champers in the boot, er trunk - so she'll be apples. I promise Cars will drive in a responsible manner, without road rage, and nobody will dare tailgate us (the uzi will just be a teeensy weensy bit visible)

Kathy i dont drive and im quite happy not to;) But if i did i think i would be too bad tempered, which is strange cos most of the time im so laid back im nearly in a coma:wah: But when im in the car with hubs or my daughter etc. i find myself moaning and ranting about other drivers:-2 I have tried talking to my duaghter a few times about this as she has done the same as you a couple of times and i worry for her. In fact a couple of weeks ago she even pulled alongside a man in a van at traffic lights to wind down her window and give him a piece of her mind! try not to worry over it too much Kathy, im sure the others are right and they will not have given it another thought:-4

Oh, Kathy - what a sweet thought, but don't you dare!! He got loads of stuff, and is totally spoiled anyway.
This party was a breeze!!! After some of the others I've had to sort. IMO, eight to nine year old girls are the absolute worst. Talk about world weary little cynics. Luckily they mostly get past the superbitch stage eventually, and even turn into sweet kids, some of them.
And, this party was probably the last we'll have for a while when girls were invited, along with the boys. Even now the girls are starting to group together with their 'mylittleponies'. The boys are into more raucous things like football and transformers. The twain will not meet again till courting time, probably.
But six year olds are new to parties, new to the spontaneous joy of getting a cheap plastic watch in a pass the parcel stop, finding a the treasure in the garden, jumping joyfully when a balloon spontaneously bursts in the heat. They were a delight. Nobody maimed anyone, nobody climbed very far up the star tree, no one locked anyone in the toilet, no one dialled China from my mobile.
And, though the group contained kids of varying original nationalities and food requirements, everyone coped, and all ate like large starving horses. Very gratifying.
Loud of course - I think I will have the champers now after all - but I'm feeling sane enough to enjoy it.

What a scary thing to happen Kathy :-4
If it was road rage I doubt that they would try and find you - road rage is normally a spur of moment thing.
Good advice about tail-gating - I hate it when people do that to me.

Why is it that people - mainly men - get so angry when they get behind the wheel of a car??? It seems somehow to magnify the testosterone. I notice this in my own partner who is at other times reasonably patient, for a man.. grin, and invariably courteous. But, faced with other drivers, any other drivers, he changes. It's a competition. A test of his position in the alpha male heirarchy, somehow. Stop lights are there only to thwart him. Women drivers, older drivers, young drivers, any other drivers are all fkwits... who get in his way, deliberately and must be outsmarted, outwitted or made to roll over and die.
:sneaky:
But the bloke you encountered, Kathy, is totally and completely way out of line. You wonder what makes people like that tick. Probably he's a kitten at work, in some kind of menial, powerless sort of demasculising job - he delivers papers between offices or is a janitor. He's probably back there now calling everyone Sir or Maam, as quiet as a lamb... his sudden eruption of out of control anger all over and spent.
