There are some ways a sentence begins that when you hear it, you know you don't want to hear the rest. For example:

"When I was your age..."

"I can tell a lot about you by the way you..."

(I don't want to give away any more)

What about odd endings?

It might be fun to finish a sentence in a way that's never been heard before.

eg)

"When I was your age..." I used to think I was a bat and spent all my time trying to hang upside down by my toes. :-2

or

"I can tell a lot about you by the way you..." pick your nose.

Someone else could complete

"Those were the good ol' days when we used to..."

This thread is not going at all like I had hoped. I guess I did not give good instructions in the beginning. What I intended was for you to suggest sentence beginnings that when you hear them you don't want to hear the rest of the sentence.

For example, almost any sentence that begins with "When I was your age..." is a rant by an old person to a young person about how much better they were when they were young. You don't want to hear the rest of that sentence.

Almost any sentence that begins with "Trust me..." is usually followed by some ill-informed or poor-judgment advice by someone so cocksure they don't realize how damaging their advice will be (My billing secretary said "Trust me," and because I trusted her, I had a net income of minus seventeen thousand dollars my first year in business). You don't want to hear the rest of a sentence that starts with "Trust me."

So- If anyone is still interested, think of ominous sentence beginnings- as many as you can. But don't bother finishing them- there is another "finish this sentence" thread for that.
