What's your favorite local pub or hang out?

Mine is Klees Pub. I love it because my grandfather used to come to this pub since I was a kidlet. Now that all of my 21 first cousins are all grown up, this is our favorite place to hang out. It brings back favorite memories for all of us.

I knew you and Aussie Pam would know the pub. It's still a wonderful place to hang out. Just got back from meeting my brother and sis-in-law for a quick tucker before they went to a concert.

And, it's JOISEY JD not Jersey......:wah:

Chezzie, We're on for Thursday night for some steaks cooked to perfection. But, we have to get there early for a good bar seat. Place fills up too quickly even in the winter.

Tucker in there my friend:wah:

My favourite local here in Canberra has got to be Tilleys of course, Kathy - where stylish scruffs, goddesses, academics, poets, musos, kids, dogs, writers and joe average meet and bluesy smokey jazz plays. Great on a summer's day when you sit on the terrasse sipping chilled champers (see my av photo). Or on a dark wet wintry afternoon, inside nursing a black coffee and a spot of pleasurable melancholy. I've read whole books hidden in a corner there, mapped out websites, written speeches or just daydreamed.

I have other favourite hideyholes in other cities - though sadly, my daughter told me on Friday that our fav Parisian cafe bar just across from Abbesses has closed. Well it was a bit sleazy, but in a nice way... Paris does have others!!!

And of course there is Klees! I'll be there early on Thursday, and grab us some bar seats...

JD,

You'll have to check this new place out called "Hemingways." It really rocks. It's a new place about 7 blocks north of Klees on the other side of the blvd. They gutted the former place and made a spectacular restaurant/bar area. It has a lovely, formal dining area, a rock-out bar area, a huge 6 pool table area that later becomes a dance floor....they actually hide the pool tables under a wall.... and other hidden places for small parties.

We've organized a party there this Friday and hopefully I'll take some pics to show you the place...It's a great place to spend time in to chat and dance:-6

Wow Pam, Tilleys is just beautiful...what a cool place to "dwell in and just chill."

I'm really thinking about coming across the pond to Ireland during the summer of 2009 and also plan to visit the UK and elsewhere on the continent....maybe we could meet somewhere along the way if you're up for it.....could do Provence or Paris......Think about it....
