[CENTER]Male abuse by women? Why not? We accept the "hen-pecked man." This passive man, abused by his wife, has been the brunt of jokes and cartoons forever.
Male Abuse.
How would you guys like to don a dress and then ride a donkey backwards down the main street of your town? Everyone could line the street snickering and making fun of you.
I doubt if you would even consider it.
Yet, in medieval France, a man who had been physically abused by his wife was forced to do this so everyone could see how weak he was.
Male abuse by women: is it real?
We probably all accept the fact that both men and women can be the victim of emotional abuse. The "hen-pecked" man abused by his wife has been the brunt of jokes and cartoons forever.
Physical abuse is another story. In our society we think of women as the victims and men as the aggressors in physical abuse.
But that is not true. Equally as many, if not more, men are assaulted by their girlfriends or wives as vice versa.
A 1997 survey conducted among dating couples showed almost 30% of women admitting that they had used some form of physical aggression against their male partners within the dating cycle. This runs counter to official documentation of female abuse against men.
Why?
1. Less men report abuse. They are ashamed to report being abused by women.
2. Health care and law enforcement professionals are more likely to accept alternative explanations of abuse from a man. They will believe other reasons for the presence of bruises and other signs of injury.

3. Our justice system sometimes takes the word of the woman above the word of the man in abuse cases. It is just more believable that the aggressor was the man, not the woman.
4. Men will tolerate more pain than women. They are more likely to "grin and bear it." And again, many are ashamed to seek medical help for abuse.
5. Unless a woman uses a weapon (and many do), a woman usually does not have the strength of a man to inflict serious injury by abuse.

Absolutely, I'm certain that this happens all of the time and women take advantage of society's perception. From what I've seen on this forum... I wouldn't be surprised to learn that there's more than a few male abusers here. Even without the extra nudging from male members trying to get them going. :wah:

Men are still raised with pressure to be tough and take abuse without 'whining'.
I get just as upset when a male friend tells me about how their wife or partner is mistreating them. A big bully point is denying rights to their children through the courts. The justice system is way out of balance still for protecting men's rights in the family when a marriage falls apart.

After my divorce I joined a Men's Rights meeting group.
There were eight members. This was at the same time when those dorks were dressing as Spiderman et.al and climbing bridges and buildings to prove their point.
We would meet in restaurants in Ft Lauderdale allegedly to discuss our rights in alimony, visitation, and child support. All I heard was seven little boys crying about how mean their ex-wives were to them.
Crying and whining.
I attended three meetings in a three month period before I decided I agreed with the ex-wives.

My roommate is scared to get in a relationship after almost marrying a woman who refused to work, wanted him to put her through school, then have children so she wouldn't have to work again, and spent his money faster than he could make it on specialty hair products and such.
Abuse happens in many forms.

I also know a woman who talked in her sleep and her boyfriend heard her say "I want you to move in so I'll have money again."
She was trying to figure out how to convince him that he can't use anything she said while unconscious against her and I just told her to fess and realise that she was under that much stress. If she admitted that part of it was true he'd be willing to listen to the other reasons that she wanted him as well.
Unfortunately, that was about the only reason.

Abuse of any type - physical or mental is not good for any relationship. There are two sides to every story also - but the crap that goes on between partners separating and divorcing - especially if there are kids and/or property ends up to be a three ring circus most of the time.

You're deliberately torturing me aren't you.
You're trying to make me think I'm not happy aren't you?
I've been pretty bad at seeing those red flags in the past. Embarrassingly they were very obvious to all around me.
So many stories. I never thought about it til now but some women are really out there screwed up!
Fortunately I've only been trapped twice.
But now tomorrow night I'm going to watching her every move.

This song came on the radio today again. Had to look it up. It's one of the saddest songs I've ever heard. :-1
Layin' Pipe by David Wilcox
My daddy worked construction
My brother too
He got me in the union
I'm payin' my dues
Oh but the woman I love
Has expensive taste
She's never satisfied
The latest things
A diamond ring
A car with an ultra-glide
I work so hard
Payin' for all that stuff
Eight shifts a week
It's never enough
I'm layin' pipe all night long
Layin' pipe
I'm workin' so hard
I'm layin' pipe
All night long
Layin' pipe
To satisfy that woman
I don't mind working
If the money's okay
I take the night shift
I sleep all day
Dust and mud is in my blood
Underground cable in my way
I punch a clock and start my rig
Don't know how deep I might have to dig
I wish I had a million dollars
To buy her everything she needs
She'd only come back for more and more and more and more and more and more and more
I'm layin' pipe
All night long
Layin' pipe
I'm working so hard
I'm layin' pipe
All night long
Layin' pipe
To satisfy that woman
I put the pipe in
I pull it out again
My back is so sore
I can't work much more
I can't get my traction
The ground's too wet
I take a ten minute break
Ah smoke a cigarette
I don't mind the night shift
The cool breeze when the sun goes down
Winter time the ground is hard
Take twice as long to drill down
I'm layin' pipe
All night long
Layin' pipe
I'm working so hard
I'm layin' pipe
All night long
Layin' pipe
To satisfy that woman

FINALLY!!! A WOMAN that agrees with me on this subject! My boyfriend has a daughter with his "ex" they were never married...in fact they were only together for a few months before she got pregnant (hmmm....odd huh?) Anyways....the woman is a freakin' lunatic! She dragged his butt through a complete uneccessary child custody battle...and has pretty much made his life a living hell! So I've seen the other side of the fence and I completly agree with the fact that women abuse men....I also happen to think it happens just as much as abuse from men...its just in a different form so most people don't think its "abuse". Its always about control and power, men ususally use physical force to control and intimidate...and women use money, children, etc. for their control!!! Also, I agree that our court systems are so unfair with how they treat men in court!

yep. absolutely.
I don't blame guys for being afraid of relationships.
The joke about divorcee Barbie coming with all of Ken's stuff is no joke.
I did meet a woman who considered herself an expert at divorce. She got alimony from all three and knew exactly what she had to leave when she pulled the moving van up to make her exit, one fork, one spoon, one knife, one bed... I got the whole list. It was depressing.
