Possibly because 'hammer' is the first tool that comes to mind, and red is probably the most popular colour !

I think the fact that some people do not actually follow the 'norm' just means that those few are probably better at 'lateral' thinking, and also prefer to 'break away' from the accepted 'norm' just to be a little different - not be the same as everybody else !

I remember when I was in primary school, and it was just after the famous Goose Fair week in Nottingham. The teacher asked us to right about a 'roundabout'. ( I was about 8 years old at the time.). So I thought to myself that everybody would write about the 'waltzers' or the 'gallopers' at the fair, so I decided for the sake of the bored teacher, that I would write about the adventures of a 'traffic island' ! (needless to say I was the only one in the class that did that !). For the sake of non-Brits reading this, in the UK our traffic islands at road junctions are often called 'roundabouts' !!! Just for the record I got 9/10 for my story - I was told that I lost a point for my untidy writing !!!! All sorts of things can happen to a traffic island you know !! :wah:
